Wow!
Very impressive indoor time!
Running at BU is about the same as running outdoors on a nice day.

Well Ches ran 336 @ Age 20. His time today is a 335-335 equivalent on an indoor track with good but not great competition. In a big time race on an outdoor track we could see sub 350. Also worth mentioning the race was not well paced.
55.7 @ 400 does a world of hurt on your legs when your are just trying to runs 57high or 58 a quarter.

Or, with that logic, Rupp should have won Olympic medals by now. Which he has. Twice.
Despite all the haters, 3:52 is an eye opening mile in February, for anyone, anywhere, any time.
There are two ways to view it.
1) How has Lawi Lalang's pro career turned out? He was super fast in college.
2) 352 is amazing for a xc standout like that. He's going to be a monster.
For some reason, I think it's more likely to be #2 than #1 but think we should remember how great lalang was in college.

The rabbit went through in 55.7 which means Ches should have been in 3-5th place right at goal. No need to be up the pacers a$s

Not even close - took Sally Kipyego over 10 years to get it so he has a long way to go
Ches time is also faster than the listed Kenyan national indoor record of 3:52.63 from 2012
They definitely have guys that can best 3:52
Good point rojo, there is reason to be skeptical. That being said, look at the difference between James Li athletes Sambu and Lalang as opposed to Andy Powell athletes Gregorek, Jenkins, rupp, centro, wheating, have had lots of success post college.
I'm confident Ches will have success past college putting all times aside because at the end of the day Ches is a winner and that's something that isn't quantifiable. He's won 90% of major races he's run because the kid runs to win and as we've seen with centro, chelimo and jager, that will take you a very long way

Considering he's a year older than Rono was when he set his 5k record, and Rono was way way way over-age, it's merely a good mile time. A guy running 3:36 at 20, even 22, is more impressive.
Considering you're full of sht.
Rono was a 27 year old "freshman."
Chez is legit, 23.
