- citizenship and athletic affiliation are not the same thing
- the olympics requires you to run for the country of your athletic affiliation, regardless of whatever other countries you may belong to as a citizen (if any)
- many races give prizes to the first American, but they are referring only to citizenship, not to affiliation.
If you are upset by this ( I could understand how), your interest should be in changing the system.
None of that matters. She's a citizenship double-dipper, a flag whore, a plastic Greek. Every race in the USA should ban her.
None of Alexi's stupid ship-jumping shenanigans offends me. The truly unforgivable thing about Alexi is her godawful "writing" and "art," which, if it weren't for the running world's peculiar deification of her, would merit a participation ribbon in an elementary school contest at best.
Was fine with her deciding to compete for Greece. Am not fine with her subsequently winning US only prize money.
Poor moral code.
There was no US only prize money.

Please don't bring your stupid fact into the discussion.
Thank you.
The writer-artist-director-producer-film star-Olympian-Greek-Goddessâ„¢ Alexi Pappass must be STOPPED.This is a complete Turkey trot debacle.
What are you going to do about it?
I have already called Stephanie Hightower about it several times.
She won't return my calls.

Then I have no qualms with her run.

Before anybody says anything here, I think we need somebody to come up with the rule book on this if there is one or not.
How does her running for Greece impact her running to make a US team or in US team championship ( x-country).
Are there set rules for running for US prize monies if you hold a dual citizenship or not?
What is her citizenship status?
Road races that do not fall under US championships and declare US athletes prize money are obligated to what rules, race director has the say I would assume.
NYRR only pays out US Prize money to US runners who are unable to compete for other countries. Thus preventing the Fake Greek from conveniently running for Greece when it comes to making World Teams and then running as US citizen at the rest of the races to make money.
the above poster is correct, and this is how ALL races need to delineate their payouts of US only $. unfortunately, many races don't think about this possibility, and thus it's ambiguous, at best, thus anyone with a us passport (i'll assume she has one of each country) could grab US only cash. Not right, in my opinion. Pretty sure she's ineligible for any US championship, be it road, track, or XC, which should automatically make her ineligible for any US $ at this race, but they aren't the sharpest bunch up there in SJ. Well meaning, but not quite forward looking enough.

She truly is an awful writer.
I see bonuses for US records, but it does not look like there is US only prize money.
There is money for the Pacific Association members.

And not the Staggering number of Dual Citizens from a certain tribe in the middle east... JEWS, who are in high governmental positions, were virtually every major Hillary Clinton donor, are vastly over-represented in the media, and are slowly trying to wheedle their way into the Trump Administration....These Jews got us into the Wars in Iraq, run your banks, make up a third of the Supreme Court, and are pushing Immigration into white European countries by non-whites to wipe them out and make them easier to rule over.
But you are worried about some Greek girl trying to make a few extra bucks..

According to the ADR, newsletter for the Association of Road Running Statisticians, Alexi-Maria Pappas set a new Greek 5 km road record for women in San Jose California on November 24, 2016 in a time of 15:44.
I don't know what that means but maybe someone is confused somewhere about what nationality she runs under.
