Oh Fred. Why focus on the American runners? Could Jonesy have run a 2:04 if he trained with more of a brain and less emotions? We don't know. Why not focus on the Kenyan and Ethiopian runners who are running easy at 6:30 to 8 minutes (AND the American runners who are)?
Anyone who runs hard on their easy days is underperforming - it comes down to that.
