15:53 is boggling on that course.
New Woodbridge course this year in Riverside at Silverlakes- and the above times are from the original course at Woodbridge High School, which apparently changed slightly over time, becoming faster. You skipped the times run on the two other courses - Estancia and Great Park - used from 2010-2015.
Great Parks
1 Destiny Collins 11 Great Oak 16:04 2014
2 Danielle Jones 12 Desert Vista (AZ) 16:16 2014
3 Samantha Ortega 12 Saugus 16:21 2014
4 Marissa Williams 12 Palisades Charter 16:27 2014
5 Allie Chipman 10 Mountain Vista (CO) 16:31 2015
Estancia
1 Baxter, Sarah 12 Simi Valley 15:57 2013
2 Baxter, Sarah 11 Simi Valley 16:12 2012
3 Reedy, Hagen 12 Buchanan (Clovis) 16:17 2012
4 Williams, Marissa 11 Palisades 16:20 2013
4 Chapus, Cami 12 Harvard-Westlake 16:20 2011
6 Collins, Destiny 10 Great Oak 16:28 2013
6 McLellan, Madi 10 The Woodlands (TX) 16:28 2011
Who cares? She's going to Cal which means she'll run a few good races in xc, pop a fast 3k or 1500 in track but will not actually end up doing anything of serious note.
Hard to argue with this. For a decade it seemed that Sandoval and Metcalf (UW) were in a contest to be the running career graveyard of the PAC12, but in recent years Greg seems to have developed a learning curve that Tony blissfully ignores.

We had a big update on her in our Week That Was weekly recap:

At the NXN meet in December, the biggest takeaway for us was the total domination by Brie Oakley, who won by 28 seconds. Her domination of the HS ranks has continued on into the indoor season as at the New Balance Nationals last week she set meet records in the 2-mile (9:56.06) and 5000 (15:55.75). The latter mark is a US record and she’s now the first US HSer under 16:00 indoors. She won the 2-mile by 16+ seconds and the 5k by 52+ seconds.
It’s interesting to note that the 5000 national record has been broken at the meet in each of the last seven years.
Girls HS 5000 Record Progression
2011, Waverly Neer, 16:35.15
2012, Erin Finn, 16:19.69
2013, Wesley Frazier, 16:18.01
2014, Tessa Barrett, 16:11.85
2015, Anna Rohrer, 16:10.79
2016, Weini Kelati, 16:08.83
2017, Brie Oakley, 15:55.75
It's very difficult predicting what teenage runners will achieve as senior athletes.
I few years ago, there was a thread about fiour teenagers who showed terrific promise.
They were...Mary Cain, Jessica Judd, Anita Hinriksdottir and Ajee Wilson.
So far, only Ajee has made a very successful transition to the senior ranks.
However, the Icelandic girl won a medal at the recent European Indoor Champs, and Jessica Judd looks set for a big comeback after a few years in the wilderness. This last few weeks has seen her win the top two English cross country championships.
And, Mary? I still have hope that she will find her way back.
Course was shorten this year by .22 mile
No, unfortunately we won't, because she choose to attend Cal.....
I see injuries and poor performances in her future.
Oakley has a quick, shuffling stride, with little impact upon the ground. This, combined with her natural endurance, suggests that her best potential event might prove to be the marathon.
For her sake, I hope she toils anonymously for the next few years.
