Who do we think would have won if Murphy had been in the 800?

Unless he gets the 1500 A standard in the next 2 weeks, he will be forced to run the 800 at the Trials.
He is entered in the Portland 1500 Sunday but that would be his 3rd race in 5 days. How will he feel? Will the pace be fast enough? Remember they hit 2:53 - 2:54 at 1200 today and he missed the A time. That is smokin' thru 1200. Will there be a crowd of runners to deal with in Portland, all gunning for the standard, as opposed to being on the rail all the way and having to deal with basically 2 other guys today?
In an interview a week ago with Dave Hunter he stated he'll be going with the 800 at the Trials. After today and if he hits the standard Sunday I can see him and his coach having a serious discussion. [quote]rojo wrote:[/b

Three hard races in 5 days would be a good simulation of the qualifying rounds at the Olympics. If he is able to run the standard in the 1500 on Sunday in Portland then it will let him know that he can survive in that event. If not, then stick with the 800 where he has had success.
A changing of the guard, we shall see in the near future.Seems our current group of pro's are going backwards, with the exception of Centro.
Coaching will be interesting here as they have to engineer a double peak, just peaked for NCAA's, now come back and peak for the trials with experienced pro's at a different level. Should make for a great trials!!!

Thanks to that idiot Symmonds and his childish grandstanding, Clayton has some intl experience.
Good for him.
I'm actually not that big of a Murphy fan for taking his spot last summer. I thought it would be much more telling if he stood in solidarity with Nick. He didn't earn the spot and maybe some support like that would have helped the fight for athletes' rights move forward a bit.
Just my two cents. Can't expect much from a kid an opportunity to put on the Team USA jersey for the first time. Hard to blame him for that.
So on one hand you say our current group of pro's is going backwards (?) yet then you say that Clayton will have the tough task of racing experienced pro's that are on a different level at the Trials.
Don't you think that this "going backwards" group of pro's will be no match for the great Clayton Murphy?

It seems on one hand you think that this "going backwards" group of pro's will be no match for the great Clayton Murphy. But then you seem to be making excuses for him ahead of time just I case this group of 3;30 to 3:36 "going backwards" pro's gets the better of the great Clayton Murphy. He still has to hit the A standard. If he does, let's resume the conversation. If he doesn' hit it tomorrow, we'll be talking Murphy vs Brazier,et al.

If he turns pro, hope he doesn't sign with Nike. They're screwing Boris this year.
well he just won the portland meet in 3:36.24 wearing nike gear and took the $1000 check.... Have to wonder if something is in the works.
Not a sanctioned meet for college athletes. So he had to run unattached.
What happened to Centro?
true, but he didnt have to take the first place $1000 check live on camera. If he is staying, that is not exactly a smart decision on his part.

Yorks took it hard. 2:53 at 1200.
And they actually raced the entire 1500 instead of the typical NCAA D1 final where they jog 1150, race for 350 and post 3:5x FTW. Very refreshing. Murphy is a freak.
