Yea really. If they are playing in the World Cup they should be paid as if they are playing in the World Cup
Nope. Sorry, women draw fewer fans, sponsorships, and TV deals, therefore they generate less money.
And it will always be this way.
I think it will change.
I guess sponsorship money is hard to control, but even if you ignore equal pay, the Australian women's team wasn't even paid minimum wage until they went on strike last year
He pointed out the the Australian Women's team is currently ranked 5th in the world. It isn't much of a reach to assume that this 14 year old team could beat ANY women's soccer team. Besides, who said this was the best 14 year old team in the world? Maybe they would only be ranked 20th in the world.
20th? They might not be in the top 5-10 in Australia alone. This was a Regional U15 team.

And that's messed up
It's not messed up. No one owes them anything for doing something they chose to do.
Women's sports are not and never will be be as popular as men's.
Wouldn't surprise me if they also destroyed the US women's national soccer team. They beat them 7-0 and probably just started playing around later on in the game. They could probably still beat them relatively easily.

They would win easily. If it's 7-0 against Australia it would be 6-1 or 5-0 at worst against the US. The US team lost 5-2 against FC Dallas U15 in 2017.
In spite of the misogynist undertones in this old post, it makes one more compelling argument as why biologic males should not be allowed to compete in women's competitive sport. At least in this game, there was a realistic expectation that the genders would be competing against each other.

Has never been that way for USMMT vs. USWNT. US men will never draw as much of an audience as their women.
You obviously did not watch the recently completed CONCACAF W championship game in Mexico. The USWNT vs Canada championship game had maybe a couple thousand fans in a stadium designed for 40-50 thousand.
The USWNT are undefeated in their past 30 Concacaf tournament matches. Will Canada be able to break the streak with a win in the W Championship final?Stream ...
I know this subject thoroughly, having watched many matches of top-level female soccer players competing against young teen males. It's all about quicks. It's not skills, it's not tactics, it's not strength, it's not even sprinting speeds. It's quicks.
My son was just another pretty good HS soccer player, wasn't even All League in HS, and when he was 14 years old he crushed a national-level 17 year old female player in a 1v1 contest. Beat her every time, because he was just too quick for her.
The US Men routinely draw better ratings and attendance than the US women. The only matches where the women draw at a similar level is semi-finals and finals of an Olympics or women's World Cup.
Even with the relative success gap between the two, the US men still draw significantly more than the women.
Wouldn't surprise me if they also destroyed the US women's national soccer team. They beat them 7-0 and probably just started playing around later on in the game. They could probably still beat them relatively easily.
You registered a handle to bump this pointless 6 year old thread?
Do you know any other sport where the best women would get desroyed by 14 year old boys?
This is the equivalent of a 14 year old boy running 14:25 or 2:21 Marathon.
And when people complain that women sports don't get paid as much as men in the same sport .... Here you go.
Track and Field is equal and I get it. I enjoy watching the women's races/jumps/throws as much as the men.
But in soccer, basketball ... men are more exciting to watch.
Figure skating, gymnastics- women
Here's a scenario: When I was a teenager DECADES ago, a woman pro bowler sued to be allowed on the men's tour. She was literally just as good as the men but got less money on the woman's tour.
I don't remember the result but it was the 1970's, a much different world.
Doesn't surprise me at all. This plays out in many sports. It's the entire crux of why we have different sex categories for sports. Females are different than males. They bring something unique to the species, as do males. They're athletic ability may be less than males, but so be it. I still appreciate what they can do in sports.
