Of course, it is ridiculous and crazy, and Harbaugh doesn't have to do this kind of stunt to get attention and recruits to Michigan, as a big-time NFL quarterback and coach at a great school with a fine history, outside of those Ohio State games. But this is what makes him so much more successful. The great ones do all the little things necessary to be great, even this kind of over the top recruiting tactic to win over an entirely unnecessary third or fourth string kicker (or best case scenario, he becomes the starter next year, but there is no talent dropoff to the other guys), at the same time as Michigan barely recruits and funds any really high caliber distance runners to the men's team nowadays, all so that they can add those fourth kickers to the football roster without busting the Title IX score.
