I was pretty sure that indoor track and outdoor track were very similar. Maybe I don't actually understand indoor track.
Indoor track is a college sport that has no real relevance to the pros. Northern college teams that can't travel much may need it, but pros can live and compete in warm places.
The technological assist to indoor distance times has them exceeding credibility. People easily running 7:30 or quicker in low key meets. When's the last time Rupp solo'd 13:01 outdoors? But that doesn't carry over to sprints, which remain too slow indoors for anyone to care about. Thus few pros compete, and none of it matters much. It is like a preview for who might do well outdoors. It's like baseball spring training.
You can see much better athletes and competition in diamond league meets for about 50 bucks. You have to be an absolute fanatic with money to burn to spend hundreds or thousands to see a indoor champs.
