How does a guy who just powered to 8:00 recently in Paris, struggle so much and appear so much less fit in the finals of the 3k SC? His power, fitness, speed were all substantially less than in Paris.
Wow, very disappointed. Not only was he not a medallist but also wasn't the fastest American in the race.
I think we're just delusional to think we can run with the Africans.
People we told you not to do this right awawy in our race recap.

Thought he looked great. Very strong and powerful. Positioned perfectly throughout the race. He should have gone with 2 laps to go, and I think he'd have placed higher. Trying to outkick guys over the last lap is not going to work for him outside of The States. Kemboi dropped a 56/57 sec last lap bomb on everyone.
A good post.
I think we'll find out over the span in about 10 days when he races in Zurich. Was he past his peak or is he just not great on a super fast last lap? He certainly didn't look great on a super fast last lap in the prelims.
The fact of the matter is the Kenyans could just as well be saying, how could world leader, the guy who won our kenyan trials not even medal? They aren't saying it because their other three guys went 1-2-3.
Weldon said to me before the race, "Jager's and Birech's best bet for glory in this one is to work together. They need an honest pace. Just go out there and do it together."
Kemboi rules championship races. Of course he's won a world title in 801 before as well so it's hard to beat him in that type of race as well but 811 is handing him gold as that's basically an 820 jog with a crushing last lap.
