Interesting thing here is that USATF is mentioning two things that aren't completely related to try to make it sound like they are.
First, USATF financials are audited - USOC "periodically" and standard non-profit audit yearly (even though no 2014 info is available yet).
Second, is the chart - this is not from the audits - but an approximation/summary of money that they feel is spent on athletes. It is unclear if this includes money spent by USOC in direct athlete support and grants to USATF.
A part of the conversation that goes unmentioned is where all the said increase in sponsorship money is going. In 2010 USATF said they spent $13,664,252 on Elite Athlete Support. In 2015, to approximate 15,395,000 is ~1.7 million (13%) increase over 5 years - over half of which can be adjusted value.
