I just looked up the results and awards from the Montgomery Marathon race. The winner of the 5k portion got $250 for running a 20:14.

1. Jeff Albertson is a national (not world) class douche. So is CPS for agreeing.
2. the rest of the posters on this thread have their head on straight. thank you.
3. he DOES have a crowdfunding source, a gofundme account, which should be donated to. why *should* you donate? b/c despite the general cesspool atmosphere here, letsrun is a running COMMUNITY, and communities take care of their own. he's one of our own, much like the Nate Houle story. I've donated to both, I encourage you to do the same.
$50 doesn't make a damn bit of difference in my lifestyle, so ask yourself not whether you *want* to donate to someone who has more obstacles in their life than you or I, but ask if you will regret donating to them. I regret donating to Livestrong, but I sure as hell will Never regret donating to this kid.
fair disclosure: one of my best friends growing up (and still is to this day) has spina bifida. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, let alone a parent.
Competitive running is a sport fueled by aspirations, dreams and emotions. For that man to pull of three sub 2:30 marathons in a weeks time is truly an incredible feat in it's own right, but for it to be fueled by a will to raise money (albeit not considered to be an incredible amount) that can potentially increase the value of life for his nine month child? It's a triumph of the human spirit and should be seen as so. The perseverance and will of this man in this story should be applauded.
Hey
To the guy who said Bryan was selfish to be running with his son sick, I want to say you are a mean fool. Bryan works full time and has always trained and always trained hard. He has a pretty high capacity to train and always has. I coached him for two years here and while we didn't always see eye to eye, he worked hard and improved while he was here (4:40+mile to 4:21 and 16+5k to 14:55). He knows how to run and win money That is a skill and he is doing it for someone else - the definition of NOT selfish. Also, if you had read the article you would know, not only does he work full time but that his son's condition is serious. Oh and man up up and sign your name coward.
And Bryan if you see this best to you and good luck once a Mountaineer always a Mountaineer.

Maybe the best option for everyone in this case would have been an abortion? The son has an expensive, life altering affliction that will never be cured. Society need not be continually burdened.
You don't get enough attention from your parents do you?
Thanks for putting this link up. And for your comments which are bang on the mark.
He has a 219 PR and didn't plan to run all three races until the day before each. He works full time and apparently can afford to travel. Also he trains during his lunch break and at night street his sons fall asleep.
Really, itd be nice if people read the article about this topic before posting. Particularly the adults that seem to spend a lot of time on letsruns.
Anyone know his track pr s? I saw a sub 15 so that corresponds well with his 219 PR.
This my 1st post on here ! I can not believe a few post that are on here pertaining to this young man who is a caring loving devoted Father,SON,Husband,Nephew,Grandson , to a select few! He is a educated ,hard working family man. Who has his priorities STRAIGHT .He and his wife found out early on in the pregnancy that he had spina bifida the third stage (the worst) Read up on it before you speak or post stuff! They underwent surgery while he was still in the womb to help better his chances at having a better prognoios of this horrible diease.Where they went in a connected nerve endings that were totally open and exposed out of a hole in Leeims back! What a ordeal. now for someone who has his priorities wrong they wouldn't have tried anything they would have put thier tail between thier legs and just gave up .But that's not what they did they wanted the best for thier son as you would too. I'm sure if you weren't a __ as you are in many eyes on here Albertson. Here's the thing if your an elite runner and your told you may have a child that may not ever walk or run EVER ! THAT's MIND BLOWING to say the least! You most likely would never had the child SHAME ON YOU !
Put yourself in his shoes oh wait you can't do that ! But you bet you bottom if your wife had an issue like this you would do anything in your being to do everything you could them!
So instead of Bashing Bryan on wanting to do everything possible for him Commend him for his efforts and his great accomplishments!God only gives us what he thinks we can handle and he has given Bryan and his wife and family a precious gift in Leeim. So if you want to support him do so like the normal folk would do if not please shut up and mind your own buisness and go on to another stupid post that you come up with! And everytime except when he's at work when running his whole family is right behind.
So Bryan if you read this may your running take you far and your love and dedication of your running and Family take you even farther. For the people that truly no you respect you and support you more than 110%. As you well know.God speed! gofundme.com/rc6sc8
It would be more impressive if he won 8 marathons in 3 days...
This dude ought to be getting more run up in here. Spend a minute of your morning Boston viewing to show some support and pitch a few bucks his way for the cause. An incredible effort.
Read the local article embedded in the linked article. This guy would be chasing a qualifying time but for his kid's condition. He says that he put that on the back burner and just runs races for his kid. His priorities are in the right place. And with all the pressures the guy is under, an hour or two a day running will go a long way to keep his mental state strong for his family. If you expect him to sit around the house and stare out the window instead of training, you really do not understand what running is all about.
Running 8 marathons in 3 days is not possible think about it! Or at this point he might try it!
To the post about about him getting a little more run up on here he should be your right! Get the word out there for him! He works a 9 to 5 job for a great company and they support him anyway that they can ! Giving him time to go to these runs to do this and letting him work extra hours to catch up for time he has missed. But he still has common bills to pay, college loans left to pay back .
but giving him and his cause a look and a few $ 's that you might spend on something meaningless in your life to help a fellow runners sick child will go a long way honestly!
To put his hard work and training on the back burner, his dreams to help his son and bring awareness to spina bifida is having priorities straight!
god speed to him and every runner that donates to his son!
Help out a fellow runner with a sick child !

Do you really think that a father should sacrifice a big part of his life, running, (and likely some of his sanity) to "be around" another 8-10 hours a week?
If he needs money for his sick son, he should definitely sacrifice his egotistical hobby and do some real work that pays real cash.
I agree. I cannot understand having any negativity toward this man. By itself, his running is inspiring--2:24, 2:32, then 2:24. I wish Bryan and his family all the best. Keep on running, pray, hope, and never give up on your dreams.
Peace and good running.
This man does have a JOB and it pays real money! And By NO MEANS SHOULD HE GIVE UP HIS RUNNING !! He needs this as well as his family for that matter. If He makes money at it or not. It's what they do as a family and thats what gets them through the lifes challenges that they face. A Good parent he is and is doing everything he can to provided for his family and sick son ! Keep your chin up and keep the negative things people say on here to the back of your mind and the next time you run by a dump leave them there.
good luck on your future running as well as fatherhood !
He ran 2:22 today at the Derby Festival Marathon.
