I am uncertain as to what some of questions you are asking actually mean. However, your last question is quite clear:
"Or could the person still be a loser."
No SAT score guarantees anything at all about one's success in life. Someone with a perfect score (with or without prep work) may be a total loser. Someone with a crappy score (even with a lot of prep work) may be a winner and achieve great things.
