Why do you think that was a doped performance? OK, she did run the last 1000m faster than any of the women ran their last 1000m in last weekend's Wannamaker Mile, but that's totally normal, right?
PS. Her last 1k was slower than Rowbury's by a tiny bit.
She's outta this world, but I hope she can do this outdoors, she can be an authentic superstar this sport badly needs.
It's really odd how much better she has been indoor than out. I don't know of any other elite mid-dist whose indoor PRs are all faster than their outdoor
As you pointed out all of Genzebe's PRs are much faster indoor.
Last year we spent months contemplating the carnage she would do outdoor based on normal runner trends and conversions, but she never got close to that form.
It's very strange. Maybe she had injuries, who knows. She wasn't horrible outdoor, but it was odd

The only thing that needs to end is your worthless libelous life.
This will anger you to suicide, but Genzebe is CLEAN
How do you know?
How does anyone know one way or another?
It seems odd to me that folks on either side of the argument seem so certain of themselves when nobody has any real information.
significantly easier to dope indoors than out.
shes strongest runner in world at best by margin but not best racer. similar to el g, tho this year she'll be untouchable if healthy
!!
LRC Note: Our recap and analysis is now up on the front page.
My word. Didn't even look tired until she approached the last bend.
What's up with her nose piercing, is that new?
It's becoming evident that banked modern indoor tracks are as fast as outdoor, with controlled conditions to boot. Not to mention that those pesky Chinese records are avoided for the women.
A key element here was the rest of the field moving to lane two at critical points. Basically they were choreographed rabbits.
is there video of the race anywhere? I can't find it.
Just arrived home after a great night at the Globe. It was great to witness Genzebes world record, and I can say for certain that she wouldn't have run that last kilometer in 2:47 without the great support from the crowd. A couple of thousands standing and screaming for the last laps, it was truly fantastic. I think this is why indoor distance running is fast in Stockholm and the reason why Defar, Gebresselasie, Dibaba etc come to break records here, because of the crowd.
I am not sure if it is faster, but you don't lose much. The banking negates the tight turns and anything over 800m is not subject to centrifugal force and closeness of the crowd keep you mentally engaged.
Btw, Baby D looks athletic and obviously as a former WJXC champ, she has great endurance. She is with out a doubt, extremely talented, but there something fishy about this and last year's indoor performances. Seeing someone negative split an indoor 5K running the entire race alone is crazy; her performances are almost too impressive.
Btw, I coining the name Baby D here first on Letsrun.
If she doesn't dope I'll quit my job tomorrow.
On the same day another distance female gets popped, GD sets a world record...
Kenya isn't even done building their lab, the only lab in the region.
I don't have any proof to satisfy WADA, but please, be a little skeptical. Hold something back instead o singing her praises.
This blind faith is only an endorsement of doping.
Would you please delete/ban these libelous morons? What's the point of breaking a record cleanly to have to see to this idiocy?
Just off yourself instead
Buh bye

Anyone remember that year when I think T Dibaba but maybe it was Defar ran like 14:30s in like 90+ heat in New York. The weather was awful
Temperature is not always ideal indoors though. They can't refrigerate an entire stadium. I don't think the Armory even has any air conditioning.
4th fastest 5k ever. AND SHE DID IT WITHOUT PACERS!!!! Absolutely insane

So far Genzebe is the only elite athlete I'm aware who has PRs that are all much faster indoor than out. In fact I can't think of anyone with a faster indoor PR than outdoor other than her. In fact I can't even think of anyone close.
So she is either the most beautiful outlier in the world, or she has yet to reach her full potential outdoor.
The latter could be the case, if she made her breakthrough last winter, but had injuries during last summer. We'll see what happens this year.
Based on these times she should be a legit threat for WR in 1500, 3K and 5K outdoor

You can run nearly as fast indoors as outdoors (some think it's faster) paticularly at 5000. Outdoors on the DL circuit, many of the 5000s are run in the middle of a windy day. Indoors the temperature is perfect and there is zero wind.
Probably should amend that to say "for distance runners." For sprinters, who go much faster, the tight turns seriously slow them down. 200 indoor WR: 19.92 outdoor WR: 19.19, 400 indoor WR: 44.57 outdoor WR 43.19.
Another reason for fast indoor times besides the tracks and lack of weather is the reduced or lack of competition. When Rupp ran his fast mile and 5k those were virtually solo time trials with no serious competition. In Diamond League races with runners as good or better than him in the field, Rupp would never try a solo time trial. All he would do is pull the field to fast times and probably lose to boot.
