why has nobody brought up one of the most important aspects of the performance: how RELAXED did Centro look? did it look like he was JOGGING a 2:49?
Not for nothing, but I remember watching ELG run thru 1200 in 2:46/2:47 range on some of this monster 1500's back in the day. I'd say Centro solo 2:49 is worth better than a 3:38/3:55...56. shape wise. More like a 3:52/53 mile
Kiprop split 2:47 on his way to the 3:27 he ran last year in Monaco. Farrah was right around 3:49.

from some tables + extrapolation
2'48.00 = 1'46.2 , 2'16.7 , 3'36.0 , 3'53.8
2'49.47 = 1'47.1 , 2'17.9 , 3'37.8 , 3'55.7
( all assumed outdoors & no flying start )
The purdy, Cameron and vo2max conversions are reasonable for distances above 800m. However vo2max is more inaccurate and should refer to mid distance tables in jack Daniels. The calculator has it coming in between 3:53 to 3:56 for a mile

he was in awesome shape
his 1'43.8 went out far too quick for him at 49.9 for him at bell
off 50-mid/high, i'm pretty sure he couda gone 1'43-low
as for his 3'46.9, he was "only" chasing 3'47.6 & pacing geared to that target
chasing a faster target, i'm pretty sure he couda held on for 3'46-flat
prelim :
1'43.25 / 3'46.0 ->
2'12.7
2'42.8
3'29.0
he couda got close to 3rd on all-time 1k list
I like your calculator, think it's fun and often surprisingly accurate. I just feel like 2:49.47 means you're close to having a chance to break 3:50/mile with Centrowitz-like endurance. I'm not buying 2:49.47 = 3:55.7 (could be that I'm a marathoner and my 1200 and mile speed is almost the same).
If Centro gets a good indoors race I see AT LEAST 3:52,x.

I'm just going to convert to 1500. At present time, if he were to run a 1500, I'd say 3:35.5. I guess you can extrapolate this to a 3:52.5/3:53.0 mile if you want.
Standing by my prediction based off inclusion of 2:17.00 1,000 meter effort.
