I feel disrespected, as any true American should, when self-proclaimed patriots try to burn the First Amendment. It disgusts me that Americans have been jailed in my lifetime for burning flags.

Next time you run, make sure to hire a native English speaker write your speeches for you -- that'll provide an immediate boost to your candidacy.

I feel disrespected when any true American can't string together a single sentence in correct English.

I did. Your definition is way down the list and comes from the era of emasculation of men.
Their is no way of debating with someone who's clearly dyslexic or not willing to look it up.
Well, "hyst" is the prefix for uterus.....so he might be on to something.
burning the flag allows one to more dramatically state his opinion that he hates Americans and to do so in an intimidating and emotionally-provoking way. It's really no worse than burning a cross, and that's another protected act of exercising one's freedom of speech.

I am chortling right now, my girlfriend is going into hysterics.

Holy moly. Never again will I be able to look at the output of a transducer exhibiting hysteresis without thinking about the unpredictability of females.

Wow. Aren't you tough! I am so scared.

And I feel disrespected (as any TRUE American should) when I see people talking with their mouths full, bragging about how bad-ass they are on the Internet, or especially women wearing short shorts when they don't have the legs to back it up (or NOT wearing short shorts when they do have the legs). And I believe that there should be some regulations and laws that don't allow these things.
In other words, who gives a shit if you fee disrespected? Learn to deal with your own emotional issues without expecting there to be a law so that you won't feel disrespected (oh, the horror!).
Hysteria, in its colloquial use, describes unmanageable emotional excesses. The fear can be centered on a body part, or most commonly, on an imagined problem with that body part. Disease is a common complaint; see also body dysmorphic disorder and hypochondriasis. Generally, modern medical professionals have given up the use of "hysteria" as a diagnostic category, replacing it with more precisely defined categories such as somatization disorder. In 1980, the American Psychiatric Association officially changed the diagnosis of "hysterical neurosis, conversion type" to "conversion disorder".
the flag is a symbol and I like to leave symbols to the symbol minded
I think some people do become confused. No one fights for the flag, because as a previous poster said, that is just a symbol. They fight for the country and the values for which the flag symbolizes.
One of those values are freedom of speech. Not allowing burning of the flag is the same as not allowing criticism of the country. I think it would be verycc ironic not to allow burning of the flag don't ya think?

The thing is, I'm guessing any sort of confrontation would cause you to piss your skinny little pants.

(Maybe I need to repeat this for you because many people really do get confused by this)

Impressive! Impressive indeed!

There have been. SCOTUS has made clear that, under the present U.S. Constitution, such laws are invalid. See, e.g.,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990).
But the Constitution is a living document, and can be amended. So with an appropriate amendment to the Constitution, desecration of the U.S. flag could be made illegal.
That's what it would take. And who knows, with both houses of Congress and so many states "running red," maybe it could happen.
