Flawed logic: The 800m winner has probably posted a very fast time this, while none of the women have been nowhere near IK's WR of 30:13 or winning time of 30:23 in recent years.
For the record, PR has the CC record of 30:02 from Munich/Munchen in 2002.
Only American distance runners (men and women) are to some
extent able to compete with the Africans. It makes you wonder, although personally it the effects of "less is more"
that was a problem in the US until the tide changes some years ago.
that's one athlete you're talking about, and she won that race by over 30 seconds. You don't get a Paula Radcliffe or Ingrid Kristiansen appearing every other year, they were both exceptional (certainly in European terms).
I also think you may be getting a little carried away with your "only Americans.." statement too. Ignoring the British male who's pretty much dominated all global distance events on the tracks for the last 3 or 4 years, we also had 2 women at the 2012 Olympics who were beaten only by East Africans (and with a cluster of Americans behind) in both the 10,000m and 5,000m. And I'm not trying to argue that we're stronger at distance running than you are, I'm well aware that's not the case. Just that one statement of yours seemed a little short sighted
