wel not a 14:30 guy so i know it doesnt count. but i went from running a 10:24 3000.. (yes 3000. not 3200) now im low 15's and a 9:20 3000m steepler as a freshman so. a few real hard years of training can do wonders for anybody.

Jesus Christ. Did some of you guys even train in high school? I don't know how you can make those kinds of improvements unless your high school training was like 10 mpw

I ran 9:17 in HS and ran 14:15 at IC4A's in college...this was off of steeple training so I felt I could have gone a little faster

I don't know too many guys who improved as much as a lot of these posters, and I went to a mid major with a good rep as a developer.
With that in mind, a lot of the ones posting are possibly embellishing, or more likely they are telling the truth, but they are the minority who experienced the most growth in college, and are proud of their performance, and therefore more willing to share.
For what its worth I ran 9:01 (3000m) in HS and 14:27 in Dempsey, an indoor track that I think runs faster than a lot of outdoor.
9:43 Senior year of HS
Ran 14:16 Junior year of college.
