Dude a 3:38 is solid and a lot better than he's been doing.
Didn't he run 3:34 a year ago?

That was 2 years ago??? OMG. I remember that was already ages since his last good race and people were saying he was done then BAM 3:34 he's BACK and then radio silence and now here we are again, only with a 3:38 instead of a 3:34. Why is this sport private when it comes to these things? What has been going on with him? What sorts of injuries? Would be an easier sport to follow if we knew the answers to that sort of question.

Gonna have to agree.
It IS a very difficult sport to follow. You never know the health of athletes. You never know when they will be racing next until the week before and even then you're left guessing as to whether the start list reflects reality...

I've noticed that too -- those with two arms and two legs seem to draw far more than the usual number of venomous remarks, especially if their surnames contain between one and sixteen syllables.
There are tons of gratuitous negative comments. Certain runners get tons of them. Everyone knows German's history. Slamming a guy who is working hard to get back seems like criticism for its own sake .
Save the negativity for things that matter.
Not unlike the Lakers or Yankees or fill in the name of the team you hate. This place is calm compared to mainstream sports websites or even high school football and volleyball blogs. Is letsrun different from any other sports website? Nope.
Grow some thicker skin. In this day and age everyone has a voice. Not everyone should use that power but they do. Before you bitch anymore check out "Mean Tweets." Hilarious and enlightening. Welcome to the digital age.

Well the voice for T&F is so small it pathetic. I bought the the all you can see races from a competitor of this wesbsite.
Some of the races that we go on and on about on this website the views are in the 100's. WOW, the amount of runners out they do not support the sport. If you look at some of the Youtube videos the views are in the millions.
Yup, we few running fools are indeed few. But we can't help ourselves in slamming the great sport's top runner if they don't perform at world record level each time out.
They say BASEBALL is sport of negatives (sucseeding 3 out of 10 times being great). Well T& F is also a sport of negatives, but is 13:00 5k by Rupp really negative, well by this website's standards, it is.
Youtube is free, and successful.
Where are all the Schu Crew haters who say that Schumacher can't repair an athlete? 3:38 and he will definitely run 3:33 or faster this year.

No it's not. Youtube has not been profitable in its entire existence. Google has subsidized it and is still trying to figure out how to make it an asset.
And you're the biggest dumb@ss complainer on this website.

You're a bit out if date buddy. YouTube has become massively profitable in the past several years. Welcome to 2014
German always had the ability to come back to fornm quickly. Before his junior world record he was injured. This is probably why he still has a contract.
Maybe he just needed to get a little older, stronger to letnhis body catch up to his talent. No denying it though, he still has the most untapped talent out there right now.

Let's also not forget how young he is. Sure, he's missed out on a LOT of career mileage and base building with all his injuries -- probably why he's still running the 1500 -- but he was in my grade, I'm 24, and he was very young for the grade. He's still 23, right?
How old was Dennis Kimetto when he started running?
German's still got time, provided (big if) he can stay healthy. He may never be able to put in the career volume a top class road racer needs, but for the 5000? He's still a threat.
German will gain confidence , 3:34 this summer , 3k and 5k PR's also in the mix.
i hate hall too

Agreed but coming back to form quickly might be what keeps leading him to more injuries. I hope, this time, he comes back to form slowly. It sounds like Coach is thinking more long term with German than trying to get him back to his old self within one season.
It will be awesome to see what he is capable of if he can stay injury free for a couple of years. The man has talent and perseverance that is for sure.
I'm a huge fan of his but I would not bet on him setting any prs this year and likely will not break 3:35 but honestly I think that's ok. better for him to take the show approach to rio.
