He said that at the time his training was more distance based and something like that he thought he could have actually run a damn good marathon at the time.

Chances are better for you and I hoping to do Kelly Lundy by the end of the year. Chris running a "good" marathon will require one of two things to happen:
(1) a miracle -- or -- (2) the Flagstuff combo
Not going to be #1

Here's what I don't get about Solinsky. Sure, it takes time to come back from a severe injury -- but he came back to 13:30 level last year. Not his old self, not even close, but still within spitting distance of being nationally elite. WAY better than anything he's run recently. Why is he so much worse this year, the second of his comeback, than last?
Progression is not linear, unfortunately decline is.

Classic case of no longer being on the drugs.
Think about it, the guy was a 5K guy only training for the 5K and beats a 10K guy training for the 10K to become the first white guy under 27 mins out of no where. Taking some drugs are known to cause excessive injuries. Now he is trying to do it clean and clearly he just sucks.
I don't see why one Nike group that trains at Nike gets all the hype for drugs when the group he is with also trains at Nike and doesn't get the same hype..why wouldn't they have the same resources as the other group (drugs included).
All Jerry fans,
Read this.
Maybe Solinsky and Bairu have been training together a lot lately.
(Get it? 9/10?)

That Solinsky race in Belgian is on video here BTW:

Well, he said he wanted to race more to callous himself. At least he's getting it.

All of you people saying "oh give him time" are ridiculous. It shouldn't take any significant amount of time for a guy who was once at his old level to return to sub 3:50 shape. That's a joke, stop kidding yourself. It's over. 3:51 is an absolute absolute absolute joke. My god. Now amount of time makes up for such appalling performances.
Grant Fisher should challenge him to a race. Doesn't seem to take that kid more than a couple of months to be in 3:50 shape.
Anyone with any faith in Solinsky is lying to their self.
It is an absolute joke. But dude. His hamstring disconnected from his damn hip. Pretty good excuse, if you ask me. Of course it'll take forever to get back to where he was. Not just physically recovering, but mentally. Have you ever been seriously injured and come back to running?
And grant fisher is a little bit of an unfair comparison because kid's been focused on the track season. Solynski's been on marathon ish.
All that said, I don't have faith in him, and I don't pretend to. I'm just saying, it totally makes sense that he is where he is, and you can't deny that.

Definitely. Getting into those lower distances will for sure callous him. He is pretty much racing for short speed workouts. Racing into shape for the first time ever for this guy

wi bus: biggest dick on LRC. Congrats.
Agreed, congrats would be in order. Having the largest genitals is kind of a point of pride.
Congrats wi bus!
guys like webb and sol should knock the running back to 40 miles per week and cross train and chill until the juice comes back.
they're burned out and training harder just makes things worse.
that's what stupid pride does for you.

Bump
3:46 1500
13:50.23
Rust buster = hs national elite time
2nd race = ncaa emerging elite
3rd race = sub-14
4th race needs to be a mark that would be equivalent to an auto qualifier for NCAAs or USATFs to continue any optimism om his comeback.
What are the USATF/NCAA auto marks these days?
told you guys
I'm really unimpressed with Jerry's coaching. Everyone hails him as a master, but he almost never produces results and only does so after years and years and years of having a stable of the most elite runners in the world.
Marshall Burt should be able to have those kind of results.

No one on LetsRun calls him a master, at least not since his Wisconsin days.
His focus is a spring marathon with road racing this fall. Calm down.
he's done, it's time to accept it. end of story
Solinsky is not looking good, but at least he finishes his races. Unlike Ryan Hall, one if the biggest parasites to road races. All he is talented at is collecting appearance fees and self promotion. Hall has not put out any notable performances since Boston 2011. You subsidize his lifestyle every time you buy Asics.
