Jordan Hasay is a real cutie pie. My prediction is 30:26.
2nd place.
I know you're being tongue in cheek but this highlights the general attitude about Hasay here: She's young, cute and likable, therefore she deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as runners who are not just somewhat better than she is, but on another planet.
Shalane may never see 30:21 again, but she proved at both Boston and the Bolder Boulder that she can run under 31:00 if she needs to. Meanwhile, Hasay's recent 5K PR would barely give her 31-flat for 10K if she did the unthinkable and ran back-toback 5K bests.
Maybe it's the fact that 88.9 percent of the regulars here are male, but seriously, asking whether Hasay has any shot against a healthy and fit Shalane is like asking whether someone like Aaron Braun can take down Rupp, when the real question is whether JH will get lapped. And if Shalane does run under 31:00, she will fail to lap at most three runners and Hasay will not be among the escapees.
