ds-man...here's your toss-up, what's Tim Moore doing now? (Can't believe you didn't throw him in there w/Ritz!)
Jesus Christ. I can't decide what's more embarassing, that gay looking dude crossing the finish line or the zitty face and oversized glasses.
As far as Schiro yeah she was cuter than hell, still is. But she was a mega-star and I was trying after one of the midwest girls(no action but she did send me a letter once).
Anyway the Northeast people went down to Tijuana and got shitfaced and by the time I ran into her later that night she was passed out in the bathroom. OR maybe she was just in there putting on her makeup.
Brad Hudson did give me one of their beers at least.
Charles Alexander ran for Stanford. Decent career from what I remember. Still lives in Bay Area and runs for Aggies. I was his year in school. (I was 14th at NE Regional at Van Cortlandt in 15:50)
Charles was second to Frank Powers (Dartmouth) in Junior National 10K, Dan Nelson from U of O (future NC champ in Steeple and 28:00 10K runner) was 4th, Brad Hudson, still a high schooler was 7th in that race.

My vote goes to the zitty face and oversized glasses.
What's Schiro up to these days? Didn't she picked up a married name, along with a husband, quite a while ago?
Schiro is now and long been O'Brien. Much respect by picking one or the other rather than hyphenating both names which was pretty popular back in the late '80's.
I know she made at least one olympic marathon team and I believe ran a super 10 mile once in 53 something.
She went to Oregon but left in less time than Alan Webb at MIchigan.
I remember her training in high school include 3 hour long runs. She was awesome.
Now I may not know much about anything, but I'd be willing to bet that girl standing w/ Reina had a serious eating disorder.
Beleive that is Erin Keogh from VA, who went to TX, and kept her weight so low that she was always injured and never raced.

Cathy ran to a World Record (at the time) 51:47 at Crim in Aug '89. Her time is still the US record and I believe she made 2 Oly Marathon teams. As a 16 year old, she was very close to making the first Oly marathon team in '84. She WAS awesome and could probably still hold her own.
Aw, c'mon Scott, you know those pics are precious! I used to have some of those oversized glasses too...what were we thinking? You're one up on me though as I've never finished that far ahead of such a talented field and looked so, so, so, um, very cool.
Did Louie Quintana stop running after college?
I remeber something happen during his last year of college and he wasn't able to run.
If memory serves, Quintana did some modeling work for a company selling athletic gear, which the NCAA thought was a no-no and proceeded to snatch his remaining (year of?) eligibility. He returned to Cali and was pretty much never heard from as an athlete again. Last I saw, he was coaching at a high school or college in SoCal.
Scott,
While those pictures of you most assuredly don't capture you in the best possible light, some things to remember:
1) Everyone had those big glasses in the 80s.
2) All teenagers had the zits going on.
3) No one else in the world has a picture of themselves finishing first at the 1984 Kinney Cross Country Championships, and with no one in sight for 2nd place either!
If you put the race you ran at Ft. Meigs and the Oak Harbor Invitational together, then you will know who I am.

To judge Dameworth's career on his collegiate10K time is not the most accurate method. I seem to recall that he was more of a miler in college.
Yeah, for Shiro/O'Brien, I would say that few HS phenoms have continued and done as well as her. She had a few ups and downs, but a pretty solid long-term career. She did well in many big road races for some years, made that Oly marathon team, did well in several other marathons and ran something like 32:01 on the track, too. I'm sure she US-ranked numerous times in the 10k and 'thon.
