Isn't Air BnB getting shut down by governments left and right? Gov't doesn't appreciate losing hotel tax money.

No. It faces challenges, but is still growing fast and making astronomical profits. With backers like Peter Thiel and the ability to raise billions in an IPO, don't expect it to be materially impacted by legal challenges.
Airbnb is worth whatever the venture capitalists can sell it for.
It raised 119 million in 2011, and another 200 million last year. How it got that much is an example of how vc firms willing to throw money at anything make money by taking a lot of chances in startups.
Its major competitor is Priceline.
Airbnb is not a 'hot' high use ap like Snapchat, but it is popular with the younger generation, under 35 crowd. The problem is this demographic as a whole is very picky, seldom travels, and is frugal and Craigslist and Priceline have a much wider reach.
Airbnb is very popular with frats and sororities. I keep hearing about it from 20-25 y/o and not on Letsrun.

Thats why people like it. They just better get the legal worked out, I mean holy crap:
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-airbnb-party-house-glendale-20140106,0,938194.storyFrats are like drunken sailors, they spend a lot but they also tear sh*t up a lot too.
They were forced to play New York City the hotel tax. Other cities are clamping down. The Department of Justice in Washington may supoena records, freeze bank accounts, to pay down back taxes.

Ummm ever heard of Jordan?
Seriously. According to some sources, Jordan is worth $650 million. Maybe Magic Johnson might be worth more.
Not sure how long he's been living in the UK, but he's starting to develop a British accent.
What is with that god awful American/British accent?

The reason he retired was to work at the start-up Airbnb.
I think the general consensus was that when you leave something at the age of 25 you are not retiring, you are quitting. And if it wasn't the general consensus it is what I would call it.
Regardless I'm jealous of his running skillz and his business savvy. Although I am not a fan of his choice to leave running.
My guess is that he's worth $750,000 +/- $250,000
hes a loser
Airbnb is currently valued at around 2bn based on vc funding, but will likely ipo higher than that. Assuming he is one of the top 10 people at the company, he probably has around .5% equity, giving him a 10m net worth. Would not be surprised if that doubles over the next year or two given airbnb's strong performance.

In no way is $10 million the wealthiest Olympian. Not even close.

Michael Jordan....
Almost every nba player.
I estimated 10+ billion and suggested that he would be the wealthiest if he had a 1% stake, which I don't think he does. I wasn't considering NBA players. And clarified that he wasn't actually an Olympian. I think it's safe to say that $100+ million would make him the wealthiest WC competitor.

Your accent can change if you spend a lot of time somewhere.
John Mahoney grew up in Manchester; you may ask what on earth happened to his accent

Gilbert who owns the cavs is a billionaire but that still doesn't keep these two from being the stupidest most ignorant owners in the NBA.
And little Jordan Hasay is a real cutie pie.
