As a side question - how hard would they hit the bottom of the crust on the opposite side of the moon if they fell through the surface? And how long would they fall?
(1) They would just barely reach the bottom of the crust on the opposite side and touch it ever so gently before starting their return trip.
(2) Thus, they would not plummet to their deaths but rather enjoy a pleasant round trip.
(3) They would fall until they passed through the center. After that they would rise again.
