Saucony Guides for everyday.
Saucony fastwitch for work outs and 10k to half road races
nike waffles for xc, short road races and the speediest of workouts.
4, counting my trail shoes.
one pair at a time
I only have two feet so I use two shoes. I'm not currently running though, I'm sitting on my chair.
9 pairs.
I have Aasics GelLyte IIs that I wear most of the time and Nike Frees that I will rotate in every few days. I also have a pair of NB rc1600 that I wear for speedwork/races and a pair of Saucony Kinvara 4s that I wear when it's wet. So, 4 total.
16 pair
9 pair of Inspire 9s and 1 pair of Inspire 10s for regular and long runs
2 pair of Wave Sayonaras for faster stuff
2 pair of Wave Ascend 7s for trails
plus 2 pair of Mushas for races
I run everyday like to give my shoes plenty of time to recover! Also, I may have a shoe buying problem (not confirmed yet).

more than 6.

7 different pairs. No way would i run in the same pair of shoes every day. you never know if that one pair could be bad for your specific biomechanics. i figure the better variety of shoes, the less likely i'll get injured. it's worked pretty well over the years.
4.
1 easy run shoe.
2 flats for workouts.
1 minimal shoe for morning runs.
