Which Kipsang?
In any case, they'll be second behind Kipchoge. The reign of Eliud is about to begin.

EuroSport commentator very worried about "falling off" of Makau's splits at 25k. More important would be to note that Makau was TOO FAST 20-25k in his WR.
THE PACE HAS NOT DROPPED.
Wilson. I think he has the best chances of getting a WR today.
Pacers off and only the big three left. Looks like W. Kipsang wants to keep it going at this point.

It has. Just look at the splits.

I feel like he's the best marathoner, and if they don't relent in pursuing the WR I think he wins.
IF it gets tactical (which W Kipsang can prevent by not slipping), I wouldn't bet against Mr 12:4x / 26:4x Kipchoge.
These commentators are completely dropping the ball. 1:42:36 is PRECISELY on WR pace at 35k.
The fact that Makau was ahead of this is due to his uneven pacing, not these guys falling off.
WR hunt is as on as it has been this whole race.
2:03:48 pace at 30km
14:35 from 30km -> 35km
Definitely a possibility for new WR
Kipchoge needs to close that gap. Geoffrey is done.

Exactly. And Kipsang making a push now, this is looking good. And of course they go to commercial break =\
Can someone please hand the Eurosport commentator one of those Runners World tables showing the splits required for a 2:03:38?
Imagine if Eliud were to set the WR today. Would he make the jump to one of the greatest of all time?

Yea, I don't understand this either. They keep comparing it to how Makau ran the WR...not to even splits.
Maybe they think it makes it more exciting if your clueless, as runners go on and off schedule given an even pace?
This genius commentator is obsessed with Makau's splits, which were crazy uneven.
The 40k split we want is 1:57:10. Ignore whatever this knob says about the "schedule."
Both Kipsang and Kipchoge are looking great for it.
I want Kipsang to get it, after the poor guy missed a WR by 4s two years ago. But Kipchoge is making a bit of a comeback after the back side of a great but never GOATish track career, so I'd love to see him kick it in.
they ned a last 5k a little inside 15 mins, should be doable. But remember many attempts (like geb 2009) have failed from here to the end
Enjoy your salad...

Mm salad.
Kipsang knows he might not have it vs Kipchoge in a sprint, so is putting the hammer down! 2:03:25!

Maybe it's you who is wrong. I don't know what they are saying on Eurosport, I'm watching it on some German TV channel. However the fact is that at 35km mark the predicted time from the average pace was 2:03:42 whereas it was about 2:03:04 at the half.
39th km in 3:00... Slowing down.
