bulky, heel-raised training shoes are a sham
do your running in racing flats, your body will adapt to the initial soreness
after it does, you will be significantly less sore from track workouts and races as well
I'd like to get your opinion in 20 years from now. When I started running 40 years ago, all that was available was minimal style shoes such as the Tiger Marathon, adidas SL-72, etc. Shoes that had no cushioning and no support. I'm 5'10" and 128 lbs. (have been pretty much the same weight my entire life) and a forefoot striker, and run on both soft and hard surfaces. I eventually switched to well cushioned (not supportive) training shoes because years of running in racing flats beat the crap out of my feet. When the minimalist "fad" began, and that's just what it is, with all this ridiculous lingo such as "heel drop" (which makes me roll my eyes every time I hear it used) I knew it was just another way for the niche shoe companies (Vibram) to sell more products. So please, strap on a pair of 4 oz. flats with "zero drop" LOL, which you'll be replacing every 150 miles, and call me in 10 years to let me know how your feet feel.
