No he didn't.

No Matt Elliott, a full time elementary school teacher got 4th. Maybe these guys should think twice before letting a race be so "tactical." AKA slow as hell.

You're kind of a weak sauce axxhole overall but I wanted to say this is the first time I've ever seen you give props to a non-Oregon runner. Leer did not get chicked. He ran his heart out in the men's race and got 4th.

Rowbury, balls, just balls.
Shannon freaking rocks, wanted to make Moscow, got it done.
we call that getting 'chicked'

What would Leer learn? Isn't it ok if someone doesn't want to run in an event? Leer wants to be a 1500m runner and not a 5000m runner. There's nothing wrong with that.
Then why did he take away someone else's opportunity to try and make the team?
Go to the results and check out all the runners who DNS'd the 5000 (male and female). Weak.
Weaker still would be the USATF's handling of the scratches.

Those are two completely separate issues. The ethics of scratching are completely irrelevant to if he should have learned something from Rowbury.
Yeah, all props to Rowbury. The only 1500 runner (I believe), male or female, who doubled back after not making the team in the 1500. And she made the team after looking like a lost cause until the final strides!
Always liked her. Not the most physically talented 1500 runner, but definitely the toughest mentally.

Not the most physically talented? Who is more talented? Hasn't she run 3:59 or 4:00?

Maybe not "most" talented because of the US women Rowbury has competed against Simpson, Anna Pierce, Uceny, and CWT all have lower PR's at 1500. Not by a lot, but still lower, which puts them in the same general category of talent.
What sets Rowbury apart is her consistency -- making every Olympic and WC team since 2008. That shows natural talent + work ethic and dedication + good coaching and support.
I sure couldn't lift 320+ lbs of 5K runners. LoL!
