Finally. The most overrated training group in the US is being called out. The Hansons simply aren't very good coaches. They pay very little attention to detail (ie, no core, strength sessions, flexibilty work, lack of speed workouts, they don't even prescribe strides.) They hammer their runners almost exclusively on pavement, which is what causes these injuries. They also want their runners hammering every day, which if you've read Sage Canaday's book, is more or less what happens. They throw beginning runners in with the group, immediately put them on high mileage, and allow them to get killed on "easy" runs. They also make their runners work up to 30 hours per week in their running stores, so that the brothers keep making money. Not to mention, the group is situated in miserable Michigan. I guarantee Lowe, Riley, and Curtis will never run as fast on the track as they did before joining the group. The brothers just don't know how to coach track.
