I would match race Ben any day, but he knows I might beat him. I could muster an 11.5/11.6 for that race for sure!
I was waiting for you to say it!
~11.5--and distance people here should realize that this is with a 10m flying start (add 1 second to get a real 100m time). I ran 7.4 indoors for 60m on a non-mondo track, and what I saw there would frankly not be much competition. Willie Gault would kill him, and he might not even beat Mary Cain (in a flying 100). I'd love to race him, though, just so I could tell everybody that I beat Ben Johnson.
But since he is not allowed to run in real competition, he's probably "training" just for fitness, and you don't know how hard he was trying. I have to believe that Ben, in real training, is capable of going quite a bit faster than what is effectively a 12.5 100m from blocks.
I think, though, that the Canadians are doing some good stuff in trying to build a track league and make the sport more interesting. We're considering both football 40y and a (juried) slam dunk contest to add to meets we host next year, and a pro-am 4X1 is something to consider.
