The fact is dream boy Nick Symmonds couldn't increase track and fields popularity if he was seven feet tall ran like a gazelle and lightning bolts came thundering from his butt while he sprinted down the homestretch. People who have never had an interest in track will never have an interest in track. Runners like usain may garner attention from a broader demographic, but such gains are short lived. the people he attracts don't follow his competitors nor do they have an interest in the sport beyond him. they tune in to watch him win, that is all. once he is gone they will be too.
