I will last no more than thirty minutes.
I will last no more than thirty minutes.
My wife and kids are driving me nuts. I would pay about $250/day over 5 days for that kind of peace and quiet.

The entire premise is stupid. "Voluntary confinement" is an oxymoron. If you're choosing to be there, you're not confined.
Besides, NO ONE is going to pay you to stay in a room.
Now, if you were involuntarily locked in a room with no way out, how long would it take before you try to kill yourself? Now THAT'S a question to ponder.
Your reading comprehension sucks and you don't know the definition of confinement.
Your handle fits well.
I could take it for a year or two and then live off the money the rest of my life. That's pretty good incentive.
100 days. Thanks for the million. Later!
I think I could get 3, maybe 4 weeks in. Of course, I get to keep my iPhone right and I have a wifi connection?
Otherwise maybe a day or 2.
What is the lighting situation? Any periods of darkness? I would know the number of days that are passing based on the meals, correct?
There's a single overhead 40W bulb that stays lit at all times. And yes, you would theoretically be able to count the days based on the meals, although if you have a bad memory you might have to come up with a creative way to keep track since you have no access to pencils or tools of any kind.

Do I get resupplied with toilet paper? Toothpaste/toothbrush? Access to a shower? A clean change of clothes? Fingernail clippers? Haircuts?
This is a trick question.
We all last about 9 months. Before we're born. Duh!

You get toilet paper, toothpaste, and toothbrush. Nothing else. Also you only have access to them on an as-needed basis so you can't use them to make markings on the walls or pass the time by juggling or anything like that.

Your originally stupid premise keeps getting dumber. You'll either have those items or you will not. No one's going to stand over you and say "your 3 minutes with your toothbrush are up - hand it over!"
Dumb. You need to change your scenario. Locked in a room. No way out. No contact with the outside world. How long before you off yourself? That is the question.

Every time you post you really display how stupid you truly are.
Real solitary has books and sometimes a TV, and the prisoners still go crazy. Nobody would last more than a couple of weeks without losing their minds in your scenario.
I think people aren't realizing what it would be like to be stuck in a room with nothing to do whatsoever.
To the idiot who doesn't like the question, just stop coming to the thread. I think we all know this would never happen but sometimes it is interesting to debate hypothetical situations. Oh, and I think 99% of the world understood the original post.
I'm with the 6 month guy. My minimum goal would be to stay 100 days for $1 million but getting closer to 200 days for $2 million would be better as I feel I could stop working 8am-8pm, invest wisely, and do the things I enjoy (like volunteer coach a high school cc/track team).
My question would be: could I have running shoes and be able to run in place or am I shoeless on a concrete floor (making running more difficult and increase injury risk). Also, besides push-ups, I'd do chair-dips on the toilet and a boat-load of core.
A week and a half is all I'd really care for. Unless I was allowed some science and math text books, I wouldnt mind 3 weeks of just studying and doing pushups and squats, etc. All the scientific and mathematical innovators had periods of DEEP thinking to create new theories. So in a way 3 weeks with a couple of texts books would be exciting.
Could I? Probably a day or two.
Would I? Not a second. I already get paid more than three times this per day.
I refuse to accept the game as laid out by the original poster. Here's how it works:
You're locked in a 10 foot by 10 foot room. No windows. No access to the outside world. No bed. No personal items. No clothes, food, toilet. NOTHING. You will never get out of the room and you know it.
How long before you off yourself?
This is now the question. Please ignore the OP's stupid question and answer this one.
Probably a week, honestly.
I don't think anyone could honestly survive much more than a few weeks like this without going nuts.
Can you off yourself now? Thanks.

I'm with you on the logic of prisoners that have been confined to solitary. BUT, think of those monks that spend long stretches of time without speaking or doing much of anything. You would really have to get very good at meditation and some deep introspective thinking. I doubt most prisoners in that situation are intelligent enough to do that.
Lots of push ups and crunches to maintain the physical body.
I do agree that it would be much harder than any of us think.
