You didn't say the same thing. You contradicted what I said using Farah's Olympic double as an example. It's off topic, but here is why you're wrong:
For starters, Farah had the potential to double. Everyone has different opinions, but most will agree he was not in WR shape. Using a hypothetical; say the WR is 12:44. Post-olympics AlSal sets up a WR attempt. Farah runs 12:43 (IMO the upper bound of what he could have run last summer) while dragging a few others to a sub 12:50. HE HAD AN INCENTIVE TO RUN IN A RABBITED, FAST RACE. And as a result, there are faster times across the board (and maybe others go after the record so a few more quick times last summer).
In reality, the WR is 12:37. No one has a shot at any of the WR,NR,or age records. Farah runs a 12:44 in a paced race, a great time, but he is still 7 seconds off the record. What's the point. Especially in an Olympic year when he can focus completely on an achievable goal - the OG double. While elite runners probably have some idea of their legacy, I doubt most care how they stack up one for one with prior runners. Farah doubled because he could. Doesn't go after records because he can't.
Another interesting point. It kind of looks like drugs fueled a record "bubble" that popped in the Balco/TDF fallout. Again just a hypo
