Squella is already 21 btw. His birthday is 18 October 1991.

It's a different track from 2001.
In order for this conspiracy theory to be remotely accurate they'd have to have run 20-35 meters short to run 1:46 if they're only capable of running 1:50.
A few points since you were responding to me-
1) I was mistaken, the line error was actually from the 2000 NCAA meet
2) it was the same track that they use now
3) I haven't watched the race from this weekend and have no reason to think it wasn't legit- just saw other people questioning it and remembered a time at the same site where the 800 was screwed up.

No, actually it is literally not the same track or the same surface.
The surface from 2000 was a platform track that they could remove for conventions and events. The boards were replaced two years ago and a brand new Mondo surface with new markings took its place. The track will no longer be removed for events. (consequently, it is quieter, doesn't move as much, and should be faster)
I haven't watched it either, but the amount of error being put into question would suggest that they would have had to have run about 20-30 meters short.
Seprately, there's no way that you can hack the software to delay a start sensor. Flash Results uses two independent systems there and the likelihood of some sort of error is zero. Starts are associated with a delta time based on the timing computer's actual running clock. There are secondary redundancies within the start system as well.
There's ZERO reason to believe that there was a delayed start for this race.
Had no idea they redid the track. Thanks for correcting me with civility.
And we keep second-guessing the Chinese women times. Same situation. Ran fast with teammates.
Wow....a few no name razorbacks bust out top five national times and everyone questions the legitimacy of the performance. you would think this is 1999....or 1984.....or any year b/w 1975-2005 ! Maybe Coach Mac is back in fayettenam ?? Maybe they ran in lane six of the old indoor track ?
why 2 sections of a race with that few athletes? why start in a waterfall with only 4 guys?
more questions, how do you split up the best teams at Alex Wilson instead of running them all together in one section?
i don't know if it is a true violation of any rule, but it isn't anything you'd do at a "real" regular season track meet.
For SO MANY reasons, these last chance meets have got to go.
Because the original entries showed 12 entries, you'd run 2 sections in that scenario, indoors.
Further, 800m starting guidelines for the NCAA now say the 800m should be run with a 2 turn stagger, waterfall start is preferred, if not actually listed. (I don't have a rule book in front of me)
Because they can split heats as they want to in any meet. It's become more and more common to split them in the 3k Steeplechase too. When your entire field is looking for a national meet berth, you want everyone to feel like they got a fair shake.
It isn't against any rule. Don't be butt hurt.
Chinese-style short track.
Why is everyone saying Squella's 1:46 was from out of nowhere?
ah, but it does say it must be consistent throughout the meet, which it is not in events like 400m etc.
last chance meets are the casue of much inquiry to the rules committee for just this kind of nonsense
Hey guys I figured it all out! If you go back and watch the video, watch really closely! They only ran 3 laps! #cheaters
When they run a waterfall, the outside athletes get a downhill start.
As for placing the top teams in different sections, that is what they do at conference meets for the sprints. When you have so many good teams you want a little variation on an indoor track because of congestion. I doubt anyone complained and if the seeding was that way, flaws in the seeding could leave teams in a slow heat with less of a chance to qualify.
