I have the nike connect software open right now and I'm not seeing such an option unfortunately, although that would be a nice feature for a future update. The only options I see are to turn off laps completely, set laps to be started automatically, or switch the watch to interval mode.
garmin 210 is the best and the most accurate watch. i just wish it would vibrate like the 610.
Go to "run", then "options", then "laps" and turn it off. You can still use the actual button to record lap splits as opposed to the touch screen.
Garmin 10. Cool colors, easy to operate. Don't get a Nike.

Just got off the phone with tech support. They are sending me a new watch free. I must send them my old one, but they are providing the shipping at no cost to me. Wonderful experience dealing with their support person.
