Results are missing Scott Wietecha, who finished 9th and was 2nd American. Not sure why he is not in the results, but apparently it is still being worked out.

He got in a fight after the race with Alexi Pappas and they have both been dQ'ed.
Buzunesh went out too hard in 1:10:56. Buzunesh slowed to 2:24:26 a positive split.

Rumor has it that Wietecha is a former UFC cage fighter...that maybe stretching it but he did do MMA post college / pre 2nd running career.

I was expecting some faster times from the hype.
Anyone have details for the slow times?
Bazu Worku wins in 2:10;17
top American 6th in 2:17:16 Andrew Carlson
You never know what can happen in a marathon. Once something goes wrong, say around 11 miles, it's a long way to finish and your slower splits compound.
A.Carlson had one of the fastest debuts by an American on that same course in 2011.

There was a downpour the first two miles. Imagine being soaked head to toe when it is 45 deg out to start a marathon Talking to people who ran it, if you were able to warm up after the downpour fairly quickly, you did ok. If you were chilled for the first few miles, you suffered mightily during the race and were nowhere close to your race pace. I suspect that AC gutted it out to collect the US only prize money. Ugly day for a marathon.
Pretty sure Scott Wietecha finished ninth. Here is the link to his result page. It lists him as placing ninth.
Great job Scott!
