Kinvara 2. Got runner's knee in less than 25 miles. It sucks because they fit perfectly.
Asics GT-2090. The upper ripped away from midsole near the arch after 20 miles.
The 1987 asics Gel Lyte. The upper was so thin that I wore holes in it after about 30 miles. The outer sole was a super-soft blown rubber (micro bubbles injected into the rubber for cushioning and flexibility) that wore down to the midsole by 75 miles. The Gel Lyte II was not much better. 1980s Reebok running shoes were also garbage. They don't look too much better today.
Nike LunarSpeed. I'm actually not sure whether to classify it as a shoe or an achilles tendon severance device.
The only shoes I can really complain about is the Sketchers GoRun. They felt odd and gave me Plantar problems nearly immediately when I never had them before or after. They were also very cheaply made and were falling apart already when I had them for maybe 50 miles. I sold them at a big discount from what I had bought them for.
As to the last poster, I really like my LunarSpeeds! No complaints there.
For what it's worth, I routinely put over 1000 miles on my Hyperspeeds. They don't have much tread left at the end, but I find that tread is overrated.

So after all that shit you went through with the first ones you decided to buy the second version, too? How does that work?
I wouldn't recommend that most runners put that many miles on a shoe, because from my experience the more miles you have on a shoe the more "likely" you are to develop an issue in that shoe, simply because it is degrading in areas that are high stress, meaning that the more you have in those areas the better.
I agree with you assessment that runners who blow through shoes need to assess their mechanics though, well said! I understand that is the point of your post saying high mileage on a single pair is fine, but still, some people are more injury prone than others.
To everyone else, if a shoe were so terrible, companies would stop selling them because no one would buy them. I don't go on Yelp! to read reviews, because I want to make my own opinions. That, and the kind of person who complains on the internet is not the person that I want to take advice from.
Nike Shox. End of thread.
has no one given a puma trainer yet. all of them absolutely blow. way too bulky and fit awkward
also, reebok hexrides. got them as a gift, ran in them for a week, immediately had shin splints
This is a stiff competition for me between shoes such as the Puma Ryjins and the Nike Pegasus...but the worst shoes I ever owned were...the Altra Instinct. AWFUL. I wore those stupid duck shoes as a tester. I put ten miles in in them and my plantar in my right heel got ridiculously aggravated. I have never had heel issues before, but this one persisted and hampered an entire half marathon training cycle. The stupid shoes have no cushioning at all, fit super tight on the heel and web out ridiculously to give the toes room. They look like clown shoes/duck's feet. They suck and look stupid.
Newton distance, bleeding achilles no matter what size sock I wear.
It's hard to beat Nike Shox, although I've never worn them. They just look like pieces of shit. My vote goes for Nike Pegasus or New Balance. Nike Pegasus shoes suck all around. They're built like a brick and limit any natural foot strike. They might work for a pure heel striker, which I am not. I also wore a pair of New Balance shoes about 4 years ago, can't recall the model. They were mostly white with a little blue and they were also stiff as a piece of petrified wood. I only wore them a few times before cutting my loss.
Anything Puma has ever put out in the last 28 years I have run. Adidas too but not to the extent of Puma.
I have made the mistake of buying retro Brooks Chariots about 10 years ago, since I remember running in those 28 years ago. That was a horrible mistake but that's what you get for buying a 28 year old shoe online for cheap.
Saucony and Mizuno makes the best shoes for my needs, although the Nike Pegasus is still my favorite.
Saucony is my brand favorite.
They were Nikes (can't remember the exact model) but I literally threw them in the trash right after the 2005 NYC marathon. Haven't worn Nikes since.
I worked in a running store when the Gel Lytes came out. Spent lots of time trying to talk fat slow joggers out of those. Hope that wasn't you.
I bought a pair of Brooks in the early 80s and they fell apart in no time. Returned them and got another pair that also fell apart. Didn't buy another Brooks shoe for 30 years.
adidas TRX in the mid 70s. That thing was a brick. Also owned a pair of Nike Finland Blue that split in the forefoot.
Brooks Hugger GT. A whole week's pay for the worst fitting shoes ever. And when that Gortex clad inner filled up with water ? Water balloon Hell.
