Surprising results from Camel City....was expecting a much different result from Chelimo and Taylor. Anybody see the race? Assuming they went big and blew up hard?

Chelimo has been training for only a couple of weeks. Taylor went after it hard and just faded a the end.

Another tough weekend for Chelimo (Crazy that 8:06 gets you like 30th at Wash!) but a solid run for Katam.. Any chance Chelimo is actually vulnerable to lose at conference?
Idk about chelimo
But my money says Furman rips everyone come fall!!!
Even completely out of shape, Chelimo can win 800, mile, 3k, and 5k if entered. SOCON is wretched. App and Western are only schools that even pretend to care.
Your logic here is atrocious.
You state Chelimo can win the 800, mile 3k, and 5k. But your argument is based off the premise that only App and Western care, despite the fact that Western doesn't have any distance runners... Chelimo may, in fact, be capable of winning each of those races, but whether Western Carolina cares or not is irrelevant.
Next point, the Socon is not the strongest conference in the country (obviously), but Chelimo actually would have had a tougher time winning the above events in the Socon than he would have had in many other conferences last year. The winning times for the mile and 3,000 were faster in the Socon last year than the SEC, for instance. The finals of the 800 were faster at the Socon meet than the Big East meet.
First off.....
Anyone see where Brunson Miller split 45.9 to win the ACC 4x4? I didn't even realize he had transfered. Pretty nuts. Was there any drama as to why he left El Cid?
Also.
Samford will win this meet. Their field events are too strong. They can also thank UNCGs kenyans to keep app out of big points in the distance events.
My prediction:
1. Samford
2. App
3. Western
With App State and Georgia Southern headed to the Sun Belt, the XC and track & field landscape will be forever altered. I for one will miss ASU dearly and I hope that the exit of those 2 schools doesn't kill the conference. Any rumors on who may replace them, if any?
Sad news indeed for the socon. No more insane indoor meets between long time rivals western and asu. No more app dominating cross, putting 8 in the top 11 (2007). who will be the dominant powerhouse in cross? Will samford and western rise up to become the new rival in track?
I think app st dominance was going to be put to an end by Furman anyhow. Probably best they leave on top.
I think the title will be passed back and forth between Greenville and Greensboro in the foreseeable future. Rumors have ETSU and VMI coming back to the socon. Don't know who else though.

I just wonder about UNCG depth, unless of course they bring in more kenyans I am ignorant of at the moment, looks like Furman is the team to beat. Should be interesting though.
Way to many freshman counted on for next year for Furman, but years following, they'll destroy SOCON!

I agree it will be more difficult for them than people think

Who will be able to beat furman next year?
Coach Curcio is again rumored to be leaving App for a new job, but I guess this belongs on "The New SUN BELT Thread".
Chatty takes all!!!
Chatty Kathy has no shot. Bill Go-Tear will cry his way home...
Paladin Dominance Begins Here!
UNCG with 2 more Africans on way means domination for at least 1 more year. If not them, App wins in Curcios last SOCON stand. Furman will be 3rd before finishing 2nd every year to the Kenyan express from Greensboro for the next decade.
