I d like to know why the Kenya did so bad in the last Olympic games when they were expecting so many medals. And why Makau was not part to the Kenya's team. Something really dirty is going behind the scenes.

No difference between running and cycling even the top coaches come from the same countries and are now just performing their trades in countries where scrutiny is much more difficult
Not as many people care enough about elite running and there is not much money available to investigate cheating - I mean which main stream investigators would run around eithiopia, morrocco and kenya to try and prove that their top athletes are doping?
Running has a long way to go to even approach the levels of scrutiny that cyling has had over the past few years and even despite the scruting the show still goes on...
Road running over the past few years is attracting all kinds of runners with no prior track pedigree who are running 2:04s which 10 years ago was unheard of
The EPO era has just shifted onto the road now..
Regarding the comment above about Makau not making the Kenyan team - I had my suspicions earlier and would suspect he does not come from one of the more controlled doping regimes where there is a far lower risk of testing positive than the one he comes from..
Him not going after a world record in Frankfurt today may have something to do with it - I reckon his coach said go out and win but dont run too fast...
follow the money...

Ok, I think I've made my opinion on the prevalence of doping clear in the original thread, but this statement is just ridiculous, as would be evident to anyone who has seen the race.
I do find Makau's statement surprising: he first claims that the only link to the shop is his newspaper clippings on the wall, like those of many other famous runners:
"The only thing in that shop that suggests that I have anything to do with the store is an old national newspaper clipping with my photo, taped to the wall, together with many other clippings of other athletes’ races."
But then he goes on, and says that he has someone visit the shop regularly on his behalf, to buy a special brand of food supplements:
"For the sake of clarity, the shop located in the Hilton Hotel is, to the best of my knowledge, the only shop in Kenya which imported USN brand nutritional supplements. [...] From time-to-time I have asked someone going into Nairobi to buy a Recovery Max for me."
It's surprising that he would contradict himself even in such a short and prepared statement. For the record, the original report did not claim that Makau bought PEDs, but merely that the owner claimed that Makau was a customer, which according to this admission, he was (even if through an intermediary, if that part is true).
Of course, such a botched-up statement could also mean that he simply believes he is completely innocent, and has nothing to worry about.
lol - no respect for hotmail. At least it's not compuserve or juno...

He probably wanted to have a statement out there so, when asked about it at the post-Frankfurt press conference, he could say, "I already addressed this in a statement. The allegations in the report are untrue. Next question." That's what I would do whether I had or hadn't used PEDs.
I think the really story here is that his agent's email address:
zbranson@hotmail.com. He's representing one of the world's best marathon runners and he still uses a Hotmail email address?
I see nothing wrong with Makau's statement. Makau didn't need to say that he has never used EPO as the article by the German journalist quoting the interview with the doctor who supplies EPO in Kenya does not suggest that Makau used EPO.
One thing you should know is that the doctor was expecting to get a contract from the German journalist to help the Journalist's group. He had to prove that he handles great runners or he had handled such runners before. Makau is a WR holder, using his name as a customer in his Nairobi shop was an added advantage in the doctor's case.
And as Makau stated clearly, the shop located in Hilton hotel and owned by the rogue doctor is the only shop that imports USN supplements and isotonic drinks. If you know Nairobi, you might know that any shop in Hilton targets well to do people, and many tend to trust such shops. I believe as Makau said, hundreds of runners purchase their supplements from that shop because they are the only importers.

Kenya did really well at the olympics. They singlehandedly won about half of all the mid-distance and distance medal's on the men's side, gold in the 800, gold and bronze in the steeple, silver and bronze in the marathon, etc.
Only cyclists use drugs so this cannot be true. And the recent success of American runners is not due to doping.
Interesting that many of the coaches are all Italians who were kicked out of cycling or who were mentored by Italian coaches who were kicked out of cycling.
do me a favor compile a list of who is not cheating? since you know who is cheating, tell us all who is not cheating? seriously! Also, well you're at it tell us which American distance runners were using PED's from 1990 to current..
