I'm 99 percent sure that he would be an idiot for paying any attention whatsoever to Lets Run instead of mentally prepping for the Olympics.

The Nike aspect of this is just as bad. They have clearly looked the other way as two of their premier athletes are up to God-knows what.

Who gives a shit about the ban. I think more people are concerned about 2 of our top athletes, 1 of which is already widely discussed as being a doper, associating with someone with proven doping ties.
This ^^^^. Thank you letsrun

I couldn't care less about this story. That's just MY opinion of course, I know a lot of people do care and it's certainly worth talking about. But they're going way over the top with it.
Especially during the Olympics when there's is way more relevant things to be talking about.
That is the catch 22, there are way more relevant things to talk about...but never a time to perhaps attract more attention to get the sport to enforce the sanctions against Block. To Block, Block so to speak.
Based on Geers comments it seems like they don't have the teeth to do much more than they have done...

Would he not also be an idiot for being associated with Block? While I doubt it is Richardson, that defense doesn't really work in this case.

The teethless sanctions are being enforced and they don't prevent him from attending track meets, being at track side or having a stake in a company that represents track athletes. Maybe next time they should put in place stronger sanctions.

So you're talking about Rupp and Farah with Salazar, right? Well even though Farah trains in the US, he's not "our" athlete. Just a heads up.
I wish I cared. I wanted to care at one point, but there's nothing new every time something is posted.
Mark Block is connected to Nike
Athletes are connected to Mark Block (directly or indirectly)
Letsrun tries to call out the connections
Letsrun tries to embarrass those involved
When that doesn't work, Letsrun continues to bring up the topic
What is the end goal? Is this one story and set of connections enough to "clean up the sport"? What should be done? If Mark Block stops going to meets does that mean that the sponsor, agent, drug cheat, USATF "doping machine" will be prevented from re-occurring?
We have the start of the athletics competitions in London (big story...lots of people care about this). And a 5th follow up on "Wahhhh, Mark Block isn't listening to Letsrun :( !!!!".
I am all for breaking up the linkages between dopers, big money sponsors, agents, cover-up specialists, doping doctors. But a series of posts/articles from a niche website doesn't hurt them. Are we threatening not to watch or follow the sport if they don't do anything about it? Are we prepared to stop buying Nike/adidas/major brands to force the companies to do stuff? Are we willing to turn our back on all athletes until the sports cleans itself up?
I bet that if Mark Block was associated with distance stars instead of a sprinter and a hurdler that Letsrun would not be saying a word about it.
Niche websites have actually led to serious investigations.
The website texags.com message board is where Oklahoma was busted for players being paid by a local Norman auto dealer.
Keep going Letsrun! If this guy is associated with athletes when he is banned, he should be exposed. If he is London and the USATF, IAAF, USADA and WADA all look the other way...then our sport is doomed!!! They don't really care about catching drug cheats.
Brojos write and we read. Seems like journalism to me. You say they aren't "legitimate"?

If Brojos have done one thing right it's the block story.
I often disagree with the brojos, but I'm glad they're on this story, too. Block should be made to feel as uncomfortable as possible, as well as any athlete who chooses to associate with him. Just because someone uses tabloid journalism tactics doesn't mean they're incapable of getting a story right.
I agree with this.
There is wayyyy too much BS advertising and promotion of drugs, and how good they are.
That the brojos keep contributing to this is quite questionable, and is constantly denigrating to the dignity of our sport of athletics.

I don't know about the Brojos, but I think the end goal should be to make dopers and PED suppliers pariahs in track and field, not just something people wink at or where people spend a little time in the penalty box and all is forgiven.
Making every doper a persona non grata to sponsors and fans is part of what needs to happen to deal with the doping problem and give clean athletes a fair chance.
Stay on that scumbag, Brojos! No let up.

totally agreed.
+1
hmm, how about Nick Symmonds, Kipyego, MadLen (who also dissed letsrun only slightly sideways), Geena Gall, Will Leer, and Gabriele Anderson. Is that distance enough for you?

skilled, that's the word I would use
Is Nike up to its old Athletics West tricks again? Just askin......
