Rupp showed how hard he is in those RV Lady's pictures with his flat brim, skinny jeans and jet black nike airs. He's down to throw hands or pull a whistle if you disrespect.

Mean while Lagat and Lomong were only gracious at the finish.
LOL. Mr. Lagat I failed an EPO test? Funny how a 37 year old man is still setting PR's- and getting his teeth fixed up with braces. GOLLY.

Rupp did not have to race like that, he could have just coasted in. HE raced Bumby towards the end, he knew he didnt have to win it or kick but Bumby wanted to make a statement. Galen had nothing to prove
Rupp could run and win the final right now. Bumbi will be lucky if he can finish as fast in the final as he did today.

He just didn't see the guy. And his main concern at that time is to check in with his coach and do his warm down.
IT'S A HEAT FOR CHRISSAKES. You don't dawdle around and shake hands. He head out for your sweats and warm down.
You calling Lagat a weenie? He shook pretty much every finishers hand. Didn't seem to screw up his post-race ritual.
Ok kids, time to go to bed.

I always thought rupp as a p ussy, but that move showed he can be a killer. When you're on the track you gotta be out to kill. No love or respect for anyone. Off the track you can say hi and grab ass. But I don't care if its before, during or after the race....if you got your spikes on its kill time.
Keep in mind this is the prelims....he must prove he is the best and isn't afraid of no one. Maybe after the finals he can be nice, but until then he must hate everyone on that track, thats how a competetior thinks
So killer that he let himself get outkicked? You didn't see Lagat race Lomong, he got even with him, stayed in control, and acted like he was supposed to be there after he crossed the finish line.
Bumbi is out to win every race, no matter what. I ran with him for 4 years at Gtown, and I can tell you that he is an unusually competitive man. It may not have been all that prudent to close so hard, but you've got to respect the fact that he made even the prelim interesting. There's no doubt that he's having fun out there all the time. Makes him fun to watch.
Sure, Rupp will beat Bumbi in the finals most likely. But why shouldn't Bumbi be a little competitive out there, instead of just lying down for the favorite. How boring! This is supposed to be a competitive sport after all...
I can't believe you guys are talking about how big of a jerk Galen Rupp was after Alan Webb weaseled his way into that race and then didn't have the decency to beat even one competitor.

EVERYONE else acknowledges the other athletes. I'd say that you're just trying to defend Rupp's bad attitude, but I think you're right. His ONLY concern is to check in and see his coach and warm down. Which is fine, he's a winner. But then don't start a thread tomorrow asking why people don't like him.

He did turn away at the exact time Bumbi reached out his hand to him.
Maybe he didn't see the hand.
I thought the same thing but my first impression was "wow, he just dissed that guy on purpose?" Again, that was my FIRST impression. I did think, Rupp didn't really push it towards the end or either that he spent too much time looking back--maybe caused him seconds? Not trying to be smart here, just observing.
Does everyone remember the 2008 trials when Rupp took off in the last 50m of the 5k prelims of the 5k and gave a big celebration across the line?!?!
Solinsky pointed and laughed at him like "Wtf is wrong with this kid". Then in an interview solinsky laughed and said "I don't know what that was all about". Haha.
I think it just comes down to Rupp being a weird goofy dude. At DL mats our senior year after the race out on the beach he was a total outcast. Such a weird of goofy dude, even by distance running standards!
Who the F'n cares!? He's not running for office. whaat a bunch of sissy pansies on this site.

POD! That's poetry man! Im serious.
Had this DVR'd and rewound it. I thought he totally disrespected Bumby too. However, when I actually had time and knew what I was looking for (instead of jumping to conclusions), it is fairly obvious that Rupp was looking away when Bumby extended his hand and clearly did not see it.
So I think we are all just jumping to conclusions because we hate Rupp for either a.) being a fairy boy, or b.) having a larger dick than most of us (or at least being way faster).
At least Rupp is fast, otherwise there is really no reason to like him. Zero personality.
Lagat and Lomong found time toshake hands, and Lagat is better than Rupp. BTW, Rupp did see Bumbi.
No matter what, it's called sportsmanship. What went thru Lagat's head is to congratulate others, what went thru Rupp's appeared to me, that it was all about Rupp. I understand cooldown, finding the coach, etc, but others have had time to congrat the other runners performances. Again, 1-minute of sportsmanship isn't going to matter with a cooldown.
does anybody really think that Rupp will beat Lomong after this....
he stops for 5 seconds and still ran a 59 quarter.
