Even his coach doesn't respect him - not mentioned at all in this article:

He's still the American Record holder in the outdoor 2 mile, right? That's fairly badass. A sub-27 10,000 would earn some more respect. Or an Olympic Medal, but unfortunately that's a long shot.

I feel like Solinsky always gets more attention than Teg, though I can't for the life of me figure out why.
I think the surprising 10000 sub-27/AR accounts for much of Solinsky's popularity.
It's not an American Record anymore, and Sol hasn't done anything of note at the international level.
I do hope he heals up and gets to hammering again, though. I don't want people to think I'm anti-Solinsky. I just don't understand why he gets more fanfare than the big tangawizi.
yes it is the American 2 mile record - 8:07.07

Look at who I was responding to, read my post, and rethink what you are saying.
12:55/26:59 former AR.
12:58/27:30.

4th place at World Champs. 8:07 2 mile. The 5000m is a wash in my opinion - Teg's 12:58 race didn't play out as ideally as Ritz/Solinsky's did.
I'll give you that 26:59 was insane. But it was one race, in an unimportant meet in April or May.
a decade ago the US record was 12:58.
two decades ago the US record was 13:01.
Ok, so the 10k record by Solinsky was a record, no one insinuated that it was still the record!!!

I'm not sure what your standards are, but I'd say the following at Zurich in 2010 was of note at the international level:

2 Merga , Imane ETH 12:56.34
3 Solinsky , Chris USA 12:56.45

5 Farah , Mohammed GBR 12:57.94
6 Soi , Edwin Cheruiyot KEN 12:58.91
7 Masai , Moses Ndiema KEN 13:02.45
8 Yator , Vincent Kipsegechi KEN 13:04.50
9 Rotich , Lucas Kimeli KEN 13:04.85
10 Bett , David Kiprotich KEN 13:06.06

It's hard to follow Jerry's athletes. They don't race as often as other team. Mind you, that is their prerogative, but it sucks for the fan.
Bump. So many people counted out Teg. Curtis? Derrick? Please.
