This is tactical NCAA racing:
Hasay - 4:15
Flood - 4:15.02
Not certain what race Jordan is going to run, but she will win the Pac 12's and nationals whether she runs the 1500 or 5000. This girl has it going. It's Olympic year!
Agreed, it is her opening effort.
Vin is not judged on how she does at the trials , PAC 12's and nationals.
Her tired effect comes from the number of races piled into championships and the pressure of her point making to help the team win. Stat guys can back that up. Review her past years racing efforts.
Im a Jordan fan by all means and believe she will do great things beyond the Vin program.
BTW , Vin has a long history of burning out exceptional athletes in college chasing points. its not the first time or the last.
Give it a rest. Jordan hasn't improved much in the 1500m since her JUNIOR year in HIGH SCHOOL! Yes, she is an adorable runner and have many loyal fans but the fact is she should be running 4:07-4:08 easily 4 years later! Miss Hasay came into college running times that are competitive with the best collegians; however, by now she should've been miles ahead of her competitors. The fact that she came into college at the level of collegians has allowed her to win some NCAA Championships but 4 seconds in four years for such a young runner who upped her mileage and training since high school, REALLY?
4:15 to 4:11 in FOUR years isn't much improvement!!!!

Her PR is 4:10.28 (5/1/11 Payton Jordan), which BTW, if still faster than what Katie Flood just ran at Mt. Sac (4:11.66). There was already a thread discussing Jordan\'s slow but steady progression. She\'s on the Galen Rupp path. She was elite in high school, and has been chipping away at her times ever since.
Stop comparing Jordan Hasay to other runners to get your point across on her lack of progression. Galen Rupp was on the same level as collegians when he left college; however, it only took him 2 1/2 years to make HUGE improvement once he entered college.
I agree with the other posters as Jordan is still almost on the same level she was as a junior in high school. I'm a fan of Jordan Hasay but I can form an objective opinion even with athletes I like such as Jordan Hasay. Jordan Hasay is in the same boat as German Fernandez super elite high school athletes who haven't improved much in 3-4 years. If you could form an objective opinion you would be baffled about her lack of improvement, which is not criticism it just facts.
Compared to the English prodigies of similar age, she has done MUCH better than Edwards or Pidgeon, and although Twell had one great year (2010), she is a big question mark for 2012. At least Oregon has kept her relatively healthy, she's got loads of titles and experience, and going pro will be another step. Whether she can ever get sub-4:00/15:00 is a big question, but it is for pretty much everybody, isn't it?
Jordan Hasay is a very talented runner; however, it seems she has stalled in the 1500m. She ran 4:16 in high school and someone with that talent you would think four years later would certainly have run sub 4:10. She is definitely one of the most talented Americans to come out of high school in along time. Hopefully she will accomplish what many thought she would have done a couple years ago and go sub 4:10 and grab one or two more NCAA titles.
HEY!!! Wake up ya'll. Jordan is a young 20 year old junior whose junior outdoor season is just coming up. Just stay tuned folks.
As I recall, 4 years ago in the 2008 Oly Trials, Jordan and Sarah Bowman were the only non-professionals to make the finals in the 1500. There was discussion here at the time as to whether she should turn pro like Allyson Felix because she was already too good for NCAA runners.
Today, she ranks #6 in the 1500 in TFRRS. Two of the people who have run faster are sophs and younger than she is. She has not won a single NCAA title outdoors. Four years later, her PB is 4 seconds faster than she ran in the Olympic Trials in high school.
Two of the people Jordan would have to compete against for a spot in the 1500:
Morgan Uceny, between 2002 and 2007, taking in the Cornell years, went from 2:13 to 2:01
Jenny Simpson, between 2006 and 2009, went from 4:32 (1500) to 3:59. She not just made the US Olympic Team, but ran in the finals in 2008 while still at Colorado.
I could mention others like Rowbury and Centrowitz. All of these improved greatly in college. Even Lagat, who was 22 with a 3:37 PB when he got to Washington State, improved more with Dr. LI at WSU (bronze in 2000 in his senior year) than Hasay has with Vin.
It is difficult to say whether the coaching is not helping her, or whether she achieved most of what she is capable of before she got there. Even if you consider that she will have to move up in distance after college like Bob Kennedy because she is simply not fast enough for 1500, it does not appear that she is on the same path as those that make it to the international podium.
Hasay is gonig for the Olympic Standard in the 5 k this coming weekend at the Jordan Hare 'spelling" at Stanford i wouldn't bet against the young lady loaded field. She will break 1510 at the very least book it.

No offense but has Jordan even improved in the 1500 since she was 16 (2008)? If so NOT very much. At this rate she will be world class by the time she hits 40 - maybe.
Ummm ever heard of google?
JH needs to run well under 15:30 this upcoming weekend!
I meant to mention that I am a big time D1 coach and know what I am talking about.

Agree D1 needs to be banned. This woman/guy (or whoever this psychopath is) is the most sickining, despicable, irresponsible, most idiotic, leathal, joyless, bombarding, profound, dispirtited, un-human being LRC has ever met. Everyone on these boards wants this imbicile GONE! Thank you..........

Leathal? Something to do with Leather?
Bombarding? Coach as artillery man? I guess that that is a bad thing?
