Her opening 400 was half a second or so off her 400m PR. Based on the race recaps that I've read of her in the past, she's got this Gerry Lindgren style going on (last year at the Florida relays as a 6th grader, in the 1600m, she took out the opening 200m in 30 flat and finished in 5:03). Ballsy - I'm officially a fan.

she is turning 13 this year, so it will soon be time to start comparing her times with mary decker's at the same age.
Looks like she ran about 2:09
Might be nice if the FloTrac guys had a clue on the fact that the anchor who was looking good was the same 7th grader who had won the 800m the day before and that the Chiles anchor was the winner of the 1600m from the day before.
Amazing how fast some people are so young and a little older. I had never heard of Daesha Rogers before.
2:01.60 in Texas today for a 42 year old woman in her bare feet. She was first. I was last in 5th in about 2:30.
I'll see if I can get a video for youtube.
It would be cool to see their videos up side by side to show what people can do at different ages.

Did this woman have a name? 2:01 is second only to a Russian doper for master's 800m and would be a U.S. Master's record by a huge margin.
Back to Rogers: her teammate split 63/85 (!) for the third leg of the 4x800, while her open 800 splits were 60/68. Coaching seems to be rudimentary at best for her.
I'm sure we will all be following Daesha's career throughout multiple olympiads. God knows how many other 13 - 14 year old American girls who run fast young have gone on to become the greatest runners of all time and rewrite the US and world record books. Keep me informed so I can maintain my current level of excitement.
I don't know about every year, but some years it is hot as balls on the first weekend of April in Gainesville. It's also that point in the high school and college season where distance runners are training through meets. There have been some fast races run there. Armando Del Valle ran 4:11 there last year. Andres Arroyo ran 1:51 this weekend.
Looks like she was sub 5 in the 1600 as a 6th grader according to her milesplit page!
Her times would embarrass a lot of
NCAA Division One women who are ten years older.
