Futsum 8:47(1:59 final 800) Montoya 8:49, 16 under 9:00
Futsum 8:47(1:59 final 800) Montoya 8:49, 16 under 9:00
Invite pace way too slow.
Nice last 600 though especially Montoya.
Futsum 4:32/4:15
Only the second lap was slow.
Leader (FAT) splits:
64.75 - 72.31 - 67.96 - 66.62 - 67.70 - 68.66 - 62.62 - 57.13
Probably could have had 20+ guys under 9 if that second lap wasn't so slow.

Does this mean Futsum could run 8:3x with no problem?
Does anyone have any official results the can post?

The official results page has some funky formatting, but if you can read the copy & pasted version...

http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?do=title&title_id=87&event_id=63Man a sophomore running 8:54? Damn good.
That depends on which Arcadia Boy you wanted predictions on.
So really this is an 8:51 and about 8 guys really broke 9.
Actually, converting to 2 miles, 12 guys still broke 9. :)
Strike that, those results posted above left out one. 13 boys broke 9 minutes for 2 miles.
I have never heard of the 2nd place kid. Any info on him? Had he waited another 50m to kick he could have won it.

Cross: 12th at NXN this year, just barely missed qualifying for it last year.
Track: Ran 4:10.37y a couple weeks ago, ran 4:12.01 last year. This was his first big-time 3200m race (next biggest, he was 18 seconds behind Orman last March).
Bernie Montoya is Arizona's best runner. 4:08.8 at Chandler Rotary invitational. 1:53.12 2 hours after running 4:08 at same meet. 15:00 5k. 14th at NXN in XC. Broke AZ state record last night. He's legit and he's only a Jr. Expect to hear more about him.
Jake Leingang also a junior.
A lot of these guys were counting too much on their kicks.
Good for Montoyo for making the major move around Futsum.
I'd be pretty pissed if I ran 8:57 and someone on letsrun tried to tell me I wasn't a legit sub 9 guy...
Montoyo's a beast.
Where was Anthony Armstrong?
Haney a SOPHOMORE!?! 8:54??
