There is not an altitude adjustment for Boise, the elevatino is not that high.

hahahaha, Kenya stomped you dumb American fools!!!
Chris Derrick is having one hell of a season. In my mind the best distance season of any American ever. Only American collegiate to run under 29 minutes at Lavern Gibson. He's run two fantastic 5000's one at altitude. One will ultimately compare him to Rupp. Unlike Rupp, Chris turned 21 during his senior year, he has never run professionally, and he attends a school with strong academics. Ponder how Rupp would have done in the 5000 this evening. Do you think he would have been a clear favorite over Lawi?? Not a chance.

NOT.
Lalang had to work a lot harder than expected to win by ONE SECOND.
The blood is in the water for Ryan Hill.
All you have to do is look back at Lagat's 5000 indoor AR, and see how close Lalang was, to understand where Chris is now. I have to think that sub-13 is right around the corner (depending on how much the NCAA comp schedule takes out of him).
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
and in the process booking those Schumaker's out of the 5K
CD better train with Al Sal if he wants to make it as a pro
Ha. Yeah, just subtract 20 seconds for no reason. That's the fantasyland that is the Letsrun forum.

Subtract around 20 seconds for each time. So Derrick really ran about a 13:06. Not bad
The old NCAA altitude adjustment standards for Billings MT (3100' compared to Boise at ~2800') give an adjustment of about 11 seconds. Still a very good time.

Was the pace too fast for him?

You're country has distance running. Ours has food, water, electricity, indoor plumbing, hospitals, schools, a stabile government, etc. Enjoy your running success, we'll continue to enjoy not being a 3rd world country.
HAHAHAHA AMERICAN RUNNING SUCKS! KENYA KICKS YOUR BUTT EVERY TIME! HAHAHAHAH

For real, who will join Al Sal/Schumacher groups? Derrick? Hill? Fernandez? Heath? Riley? Estrada? Levins? I think Heath and Derrick should continue training together. Heath is very underrated.
Will Nike hire another coach for Portland? Could Dunn become the next Schumacher and leave the NCAA and only coach pro?
Fernandez NEEDS Salazar. All the facilities for the physical side, and then psychologists and hypnotists working with the runners. He goes Salazar he is great again. Derrick I think can succeed anywhere.
Nationalism is a tool of control used by power elites to make money and attract cannon fodder.
I think a shot at the Oly Team could really be there this summer and a 13:05 5000. I mean the kid is great!

I'd settle for Hispanic, West African, East Asian, South Asian, Arab...anything but the East Africans who own distance running everywhere. If German Fernandez had done this do you think people would be any less excited?
Also, is there video anywhere?
There are some truly ignorant nationalist posts on here. But I asked a question on the other CD thread and I'm posting it here as well:
So what are the thoughts on whether the aggression, intelligence, and speed (the sustained drive, that is, not the final 200) that Derrick showed makes him any more of a contender this summer at the trials?
He was only 6 seconds off his fastest 5K in a championship caliber race. Granted, many of the guys ahead of him have faster closing speed but he just showed that he's willing to challenge guys who, on paper, are much faster than him. And from what I gather, many of the OT contenders are/have recently been injured.
Is he coming into his own at the right time, or is he still a couple years away from making some real noise?
I like the idea of two threads -- keep the nationalistic d-bags here, and have the real discussion in the other.
