So Rupp is serious about Marathon Trials

Yes, defending champion entry is WC, not OG, so there will be only 3 Kenyans running for Kenya. That said, I would not be surprised to see them go through in 62 something. Kenya's team for London looks to be the best ever assembled. No matter who they select, they have to leave a potential gold medalist at home.

I kind of want to see Derrick in the trials for the lulz. Doesn't he have a qualifying time based on his 28:26 from the outdoor championships. And that was in a tactical race if I recall.

Rupp needs to forget about the trials and get serious about egg nog.

I wonder if Nike has some sort of incentive program to make up for the lost appearance fee. Doubling in the olympics must be worth something to Nike.

I agree. you need sub 27 10,000 speed to medal in the marathon and Hall can't put the pedal to the medal like the others can.

It's a great idea for Rupp to run and qualify at the marathon trials.

It is time, and almost past due time for him to run a marathon.

The trials and olympics will be the best ones to run.

After that, he will have many more options of any other marathons that he chooses to run.

Rupp 'maybe' running the marathon is by far the most exciting development in US distance for the OLYs. I see no reason why he could not do the 10K too - it'll kill time before the marathon. He won't medal in the 10K, though. I say 5th.

If he makes the Olympics that's be cool. But even for the OTs it'll make for much more suspense as to who makes the team. And if Deena is in great form, that deepens an already nice women's race. Looking forward to seeing the races.

Too many have waited too long. Salazar himself was 22 when he first ran 2.09.42. Hall was 24 when he debuted in 2.08.24. Ritz started at 22/23. This is the right path.

The opposite is the Culpepper syndrome. Alan didn't go for it until he was 30 and debuted in 2.09.42, but never ran faster.

Galen is 25 and it is the time.
