Let's not forget Ryan Hill. He totally destroyed Paul Chelimo over the last 50 meters at SE regional. Many were predicting Chelimo to be top 3 at nationals.
Hill also had a much better kick than Batty at the Wisco invite.

Lalang could stop, pick up an injured runner after 3/4 of a mile, carry him all the way back to the start, and then re-start the race and he'd still win. That's how much better than everyone else he is.
Dang, Lalang's so fast they have to run the clock Backwards to time him.
Lalang's so fast NASA could use him to launch satellites.
Lalang's so fast they had to get a Ferrari to lead the race.
Lalang's so fast the camera man at Pac 12 couldn't find him, so they just showed interviews.
I think Hill has the best chance everyone has been over looking him second at wisco he was racing conservative and killed the last K and he has incrediblie range 3:40 about 1500 and has shown hews a great 10k runner

As my handle indicates I am an NC State Fan, and am thus pulling for Hill, but NC State often underperforms at NCAAs. Plus, Lalang does look pretty unstoppable.
I think it's quite obvious that Lenny Korir has, by far, has the best odds in the field of beating Lawi. Ryan Hill is a great runner, but I think it will probably be down to Lawi and Korir at the finish.
He will be stopped by the one and only....German!!!
This may sound completely crazy given the last two races but I think Chris Derrick is the one to give him a run for his money.
Prediction
1 Lawi Lalang
2 Leonard Korir
3 Myles Batty
4 Ryan Hill
5 Paul Chelimo
6 Chris Derrick
7 German Fernandez
8 Trevor Dunbar
9 Jake Riley
10 Hassan Mead
11 Colby Lowe
12 Henry Lelei
13 Shadrack Kipchirchir
14 Diego Estrada
15 Luke Puskedra
Jesus people, why don't you freak the fawk out. I don't think Batty will win, I just think he will close the last quarter faster than anyone. If I am Lalang (and assuming I've already dropped Korir) I'm most afraid of Batty (from a kicking in stand point).
Lalang will most likely win and he'll probably do so by 10+ seconds.
NCAA is crazy though, I don't think any person or team is a lock.
I think he can be stopped or challenged by his own teammmate Stephen Sambu. I would like to see them run against each other. If they both ran they could make a run for a podium finish.

Anyone can close fast. That just means you were holding back during the rest of the race. Batty should use that kicking energy to run a faster overall time, not see who can run the last 400m the fastest.
This is by far the worse prediction i've ever seen in my life.. puskedra and estrada are top 5 guys, with estrada having a chance at top 3. lets not forget this is a 10k not an 8k so that rules out guys like batty and Hill getting top 5. derrick can't beat estrada that was proven at wisconsin. some ppl make predictions out of their arses and you my friend are the king of them of all.
Regionals were 10k.
I definitely agree that Estrada will be further up, but you saying a 10k "rules out" Batty and Hill getting top five is a lot dumber to me than the other dudes predictions...especially when you say something is "proof" based off one race. Derrick has beaten him in every other cross race--I think??
Cam Levins top 5. He'll beat Batty at Nationals
I think everyone is forgetting the most consistent XC runner over the last 4 years. Luke Puskedra (3rd last year and top returner)will be the one to watch for the upset. The guy has been cruising all year long waiting for the one real race of the year(who remembers PAC-12's?). What are guys like Lalang doing trying to set course records in September and blow out regionals? That says poorly coached or he is just that good. Puskedra shows up to Nats every year and the only one with the guts to run with the Kenyans...
Most consistent?? Are you confusing Puskedra with Derrick?
You also need to consider the weather. The guys from Arizona have never run well in the cold.
Derrick also has great consistency but Puskedra has him 2/3 at nats. Derrick has been gunning after Lalang (you might remember his comment after PAC-12's) and won't be as fresh. Besides Puskedra has no team to consider and can take a bigger risk. I think Derrick is a great top 5 pick but I don't think he can beat Lalang he has already tried and failed.
