According to his father he's leaving after his sophmore year. And transferring to CSCS of all places.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSCSI think its obvious. Verzbicas has been hired as the new head football coach at Penn State.

The moderators have removed a lot of Verzvicas threads I see in the last day. Not sure why but probably because they don't like 10 threads on one subject. So they could have decided to remove them all.
I think the co-founders need to get a reign on their moderators.
They are ruining this website.

No one did a good job of explaining Lukas's twitter feed which I assume started this whole rumor.
I checked Lukas' twitter feed last night to see if there was any Oregon news and his last post was, "3 a day workouts"
I didn't think much of it but a kid running Regionals this week would not run 3 times a day. That doesn't mean he's left school or going back to triathlon but I can see how that would get the college coaches talking, as it is unusual for an XC runner to be talking about 3 a day training.
Well, does he have to run the Regional to run at NCAAs?

well, there is that post of his "living up tonight as everything changes tomorrow"
posted 11/6. Could mean that he was taking a history midterm for all I know, but I doubt it.
http://www.flotrack.org/article/9019-Lukas-Verzbicas-has-left-OregonAnd even if he does leave Oregon now that wouldn't be far out of line if he's trying to go pro or make the triathlon Olympic team. I'd hardly call that quitting.
But let's just wait and see what happens. I'm glad LRC hasn't published a dumb article about it yet just in an effort to get a scoop, which other sources seem to be trying to do with no legit journalism to back it up.

Having said that, if it is on another website and someone links to it that type of discussion should be allowed on letsrun. Like the Deadspin article on Bolt. I'm looking into why it was removed. My gut is so much noise on here about Lukas (him falling down on races, marrying Jordan Hasay, etc) that a moderator just saw a bunch of Lukas threads, many of them nonsensical without the flotrack mention (the thread I saw last night didn't have it) and got rid of them without looking at each one specifically. That shouldn't happen but sometimes when moderators decide people are trolling they'll just start deleting stuff on one subject. Just as they'll delete entire threads without reading each individual post, they'll delete threads sometimes based on the subject.
So my apologies.
Why are you always apologizing for your moderators? You, and the rest of us, have no trouble understanding what a worthwhile thread is, but your mods are always screwing up.
It seems to me you must have at least one mod that is not too swift. Perhaps you should either retrain him or her, or get rid of him or her. It really makes you and your site look bad and reduces user loyalty.
Saw him working out in Colorado Springs yesterday. He also bought a pair of shoes with his dad at the local running store. Boom.

You mean CU-Colorado Springs, which offers triathlon scholarships and where he should've started to begin with. I mean, the Olympic Training Center is there, it's at high altitude, CO gets 300 days of sunshine per year, the surrounding area has tons of trails, and running is one-dimensional, in that it makes an athlete more prone to injury (most physical therapists will tell you that cross training and duathlon-type training exhibits far less injuries).
Plus, it's a numbers game. How many top high school athletes that have trained at the level he has actually make it to the top where it becomes viable as a living? Yeah, he was the best (when looking at the two-mile), but he has way more upside in triathlon and can still pick and choose his running spots around his tri season. I guessed he'd figure it out eventually. Nothing dumb, wimpy, or gutless about this decision, if it's for real, but he should do it now, get his redshirt if Vin won't release him, and train exclusively for the tri for 2012.
And I mean Lukas. Not a letsrun moderator.
He's getting bombarded with tweets and for a guy who tweets about everything he's not answering so he's obviously avoiding them
good one lol

what's the deal with the selection for the 2012 triathlon olympic team? I remember a discussion which said LV could not qualify because he did not participate in the selection series.
Is it within the rules for him to make the 2012 tri team?

If he quits, all respect is lost just like that. He better think long and hard about it.
Hey, wait a minute. Remember Alan Webb? He and the Michigan scene parted ways after the first year. Evidently it just wasn't a good match. He did have some success afterward (olympic, us record etc.), and I don't think he lost all respect....well maybe except for yours.

Good question, but there are always "outs" in the rules, so maybe being the Junior champion gives him an exemption or at least a right to petition?
