About the race we should expect from her, so good job Sara. But now is winning any competition "winning gold?" I got 1st in my turkey trot-GOLD. JV dual meet-Gold is GOLD.

Are you an idiot? She won a GOLD MEDAL. They award gold, silver and bronze medals to the athletes who place first, second and third at the Pan-American games. Learn something moron.
A win is a win and a gold is a gold. So her performance and achievement is on par with Barringer's or Farah's? Women's Steeple Pan Am, it's about the equivalent to winning a Diamond league B or C race 1500. It's Big 12s or the Seattle Marathon.
Still, I think she's close to maximizing her talent, so again, congrats to her.
I know Guadalajara is not quite as high up as Mexico City, but it is still altitude. Anyone who can complete (let alone win) a middle distance or distance race at altitude has my utmost respect, altitude born or not. Medalist Sabine Heitling has run 9:41 this year, so comparable to Hall's best of 9:39.
In 1968 the steeplechase world record was 8:24, and the winning time in the Mexico City Olympics was 8:51, with George Young gutting it out for the bronze. Here is the finish:
Congratulations. It's off of her PR time but given the heat and altitude, that's a respectable time and a good solid win.
Her time at altitude in Mammoth and Flagstaff clearly paid off. What's tough to prepare for in the US is that combination of heat and altitude, because usually when you are at altitude in the US you don't also have to deal with heat.
Hall has never been quite at the very top of professional running but she has had an amazingly consistent career going back to Footlocker.

It's a championship race, you efftards. The time is irrelevant .... The venue is at altitude and hot - they weren't running to post fast times for letsrun haters. They ran to win.

In any Championship, Olympics, Commonwealth, PanAm, etc. it's about competing and medaling, times don't mean a thing! Congratulations to Sara! ;-)
