Another age group world record was set this week - Marie Louse Michelson ran 21:59.90 for 5000 on the track on Oct 17 in NYC for the fastest ever 70+ female.
Think about that next time you see a high school meet with girls finishing at 25 minutes.

I don't believe any of it.
I HATE Ed Whitlock!
Is that a BQ?
Ed comments on his marathon.

If you check the winning times for most half marathons in the 65-69 division you will see that a 1:38 would win 95% of them. Ed Whitlock ran that pace for twice the distance and he's got 15 years on them. Unbelievable! I'm 65 and can't run back to back miles as fast as I averaged for the marathon when I was in my mid-thirties. Great job ED.
Joe Henderson's article put it best Ed, "Simply Superb".
How about Ed's 1/2 marathon splits: 1:37:38 and 1:38:16!
A tremendous effort under less than optimum conditions, congratulations again Ed.
Great time! 3:15 is still running a marathon. Congrats and keep it up Ed!
Good to Ed finally reaching his peak. He's done after this.
I feel humbled. This race of his is possibly the best marathon performance of 2011 on planet Earth. I say Earth because Ed likely already holds the records on whatever planet from whatever solar system he came from. His performances are other-worldly.
I need to go for another run.
Never commented on these boards before but, yeah, that is insane. I don't care whether it made the front page, I am inspired yet again by him.
Amby Burfoot can't imagine how anyone could possibly be that slow.

Wrong. He couldn't back in the days but there were hardly any older people running marathons back then. I am sure he can imagine now.
Ran that race and it was windy and cool - headwind was very strong from mile 23 on.
Great job Ed!

Get a hard-on why don't ya?
Amazing and inspiring performance. Kudos to Ed!
